Seafood imports reached over 1.27 billion USD in 6 months in 2023
Wednesday, July 26,2023AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, the import turnover of seafood of all kinds to Vietnam in the first six months of 2023 reached over 1.27 billion USD, up by 2.5% compared to the first six months of 2022.
Particularly in June of 2023, the import turnover of this group of goods reached nearly 220.09 million USD, up by 12.5% compared to May of 2023 but down by 12.4% compared to June of 2022.
In the first 6 months of 2023, India, Norway, Indonesia, China and Japan were the main markets supplying seafood to Vietnam; in which the imports from India took the lead in turnover, reaching 176.23 million USD, accounting for 13.9% of the total import turnover of this group of goods of the whole country, up by 16.5% compared to the first 6 months of 2022. In June of 2023, the imports from this market reached 24.82 million USD, up by 19.7% compared to May of 2023 but down by 14.5% compared to June of 2022.
In second place was the Norwegian market. The imports from this market in June of 2023 decreased by 5.4% compared to May of 2023 and decreased by 9.3% compared to June of 2022, reaching 20.5 million USD, bringing the total import turnover of 6 months in 2023 to 136.57 million USD, accounting for over 10.8% of the total, and up by 13.4% compared to 6 months of 2022.
The next was the Chinese market with 106.8 million USD in the first 6 months of 2023, accounting for 8.4%, down by 2.8%; Indonesia with 99.11 million USD, accounting for 7.8%, down by 17.8%; and Japan with 81.15 million USD, accounting for 6.4%, down by 10.9%.
