Rubber exports increased by 50.4% in value in June
Monday, July 24,2023AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s rubber exports in June had a strong recovery, both volume and value increased by more than 50% compared to the previous month.
According to the Import-Export Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade), citing data from the General Department of Customs, in June of 2023, Vietnam exported 179,210 tonnes of rubber, worth of 237.82 million USD, up by 53.1% in volume and by 50.4% in value compared to May of 2023; but in comparison to June of 2022, down by 4.6% in volume and 23.3% in value.
In the first 6 months of 2023, rubber exports reached 765,370 tonnes, worth of 1.04 billion USD, down by 2.7% in volume and 23% in value over the same period of 2022.
Notably, in June of 2023, China was still Vietnam's largest rubber export market, accounting for 76.68% of the country's total rubber exports, reaching 137,420 tonnes, worth of 179.05 million USD, up by 57.4% in volume and by 54% in value compared to May of 2023. In comparison to June of 2022, the figure increased by 2.8% in volume, but still decreased by 15.8% in value. This is the 5th consecutive month that rubber exports to China increased over the same period of 2022.
Totally in the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam exported to China 580,890 tonnes of rubber, worth of 778.94 million USD, up by 8.3% in volume, but down by 13.4% in value compared to same period of 2022.
Rubber exports to the Chinese market increased sharply in June, but the amount of rubber exported to most markets decreased compared to the same period of 2022 due to the influence of high inflation, declining consumer demand.
Similarly, in the first 6 months of 2023, rubber exports to markets mostly decreased compared to the same period last year, especially large markets, such as India, the United States, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, Europe. However, the exports to a key market still grew well in volume over the same period in 2022, such as China, Korea, Russia, and the Netherlands, etc.
