9 groups of export goods with export turnover falling by 500 million USD or more
Saturday, July 1,2023AsemconnectVietnam - There was a slight upward trend in May, but in general, in the first 5 months of the year, the country's export turnover still decreased deeply.
According to the latest preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of goods in May reached 28.04 billion USD, a slight increase of 0.6% (equivalent to 176 million USD) compared to the previous month.
In which, the largest increase was in several commodity groups, such as textiles and garments with an increase of 376 million USD, vegetables and fruits by 265 million USD, iron and steel by 118 million USD, crude oil by 98 million USD and seafood products by 66 million USD.
However, the data of the General Department of Customs also recorded a number of key export commodity groups with a sharp decrease in export turnover, such as phones and components decreased by 932 million USD; rice decreased by 155 million USD; wood and wood products decreased by 37 million USD.
Generally in the first 5 months of the year, Vietnam's merchandise exports reached 135.22 billion USD, down by 12.3% (equivalent to 18.88 billion USD) over the same period last year.
Notably, in the past 5 months, there were 9 export groups with a turnover decrease of over 500 million USD.
Specifically, phones and components decreased by 5 billion USD; computers, electronic products and components decreased by 2.03 billion USD; textile and garment decreased by 2.33 billion USD; wood and wood products decreased by 2.06 billion USD; footwear of all kinds decreased by 1.38 billion USD; seafood decreased by 1.31 billion USD; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 968 million USD; textile fibers of all kinds down by 684 million USD; iron and steel of all kinds decreased by 653 million USD.
