According to preliminary statistics released by the General Department of Customs, in May of this year, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached 656.2 million USD, up by 67.7% compared to the previous month.
Generally, in the first 5 months of this year, the country’s exports of this group of goods earned more than 2 billion USD, up by 42.9% over the same period last year.
With the above results, vegetables and fruits were a rare key export item with high growth in the context that import and export throughout the country is facing many challenges when both exports and imports are growing at a very low rate.
In terms of export markets, China continued to lead the market share with a turnover of 1.286 billion USD, up by 80.2% over the same period last year and accounting for nearly 63.5% of the country's fruit and vegetable export turnover.
In fact, from the beginning of 2023 when China restored normal import-export and entry-exit activities at the northern border, our country's agricultural export activities have prospered, especially in important areas such as Lang Son, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh ... Every day hundreds of trucks of agricultural products for export are cleared.
Currently, in these localities, the Customs force is making efforts together with functional forces to synchronously deploy measures to facilitate the exports of agricultural products, especially those in the harvest season such as lychee.
