Import and export was estimated at more than 262 billion USD

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 5 months of this year, Vietnam’s total import-export turnover was estimated at more than 262 billion USD, down by 14.7% over the same period last year.
According to information released by the General Department of Customs, in May of this year, the total import-export turnover of Vietnam's goods was estimated at 55.86 billion USD, up by 5.3% over the previous month (equivalent to an increase 2.79 billion USD).
In which, the exports of goods were estimated at 29.05 billion USD, up by 4.3% (equivalent to 1.19 billion USD) and imports were estimated at 26.81 billion USD, up by 6.4% (corresponding to an increase of 6 billion USD).
With the above results, totally in the first 5 months of the year, the total import-export turnover of Vietnam was estimated at 262.54 billion USD, down by 14.7% (equivalent to 45.42 billion USD) compared to the same period last year.
In which, the exports were estimated at 136.17 billion USD, down by 11.6% (equivalent to 17.93 billion USD) over the same period of 2022 and the imports were estimated at 126.37 billion USD, down by 17.9%. (equivalent to a decrease of 27.49 billion USD).
Vietnam's merchandise trade balance in May of 2023 was estimated to have a surplus of 2.24 billion USD. Thus, totally in the first 5 months from the beginning of 2023, the whole country was estimated to have a surplus of 9.8 billion USD.
