Soybean import markets in first 4 months of 2023
Thursday, May 25,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 4 months of 2023, the whole country imported 736,791 tonnes of soybeans, worth of over 501.59 million USD, with the average price of 680.8 USD/tonne.
According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, soybean imports in April of 2023 reached 238,144 tonnes, equivalent to 155.01 million USD, the average price was 650.9 USD/tonne, up by 21% in volume and up by 16.3% of turnover compared to March of 2023, but the price decreased by 3.9%. In comparison to April of 2022, the figures increased by 18.3% in volume, increased by 6.4% in turnover but decreased by 10% in price.
Generally, in the first 4 months of 2023, the whole country imported 736,791 tonnes of soybeans, valued at over 501.59 million USD, with an average price of USD 680.8/tonne, up by 1.6% in volume, up by 4.6% in turnover and increased by 3% in price compared to the first 4 months of 2022.
Soybean imports to Vietnam from the US market the most. In April of 2023 the country’s imports of soybean from the U.S decreased by 50.9% in volume and 51.5% in turnover compared to March of 2023, the price decreased by 1.1%, reaching 58,473 tonnes, equivalent to 39.22 million USD, with the price of 670.7 USD/tonne. Generally, in the first 4 months of 2023, soybean imports from this market reached 388,347 tonnes, equivalent to 269.65 million USD, accounting for over 52.7% of the total volume and accounting for 53.8% of the total import turnover of soybeans of the whole country, increased sharply by 62.5% in volume, 78% in turnover, and price increased by 9.6% over the same period last year.
Soybean imports from Brazil - the second largest market in the first 4 months of 2023 reached 274,823 tonnes, equivalent to 180.37 million USD, priced at 656.3 USD/tonne, accounting for over 37.3% of the total volume and accounting for 36% of the total soybean import turnover of the country, a sharp decrease of 38.2% in volume, a decrease of 39.9% in value and a decrease in price of 2.8% over the same period last year.
In addition, soybean imports from the Canadian market in the first four months of 2023 reached 38,697 tonnes, equivalent to 28.73 million USD, priced at 742.3 USD/tonne, up by 4.9% in volume, up by 16.4% in turnover and prices increased by 11% over the same period last year. The imports from Cambodia market reached 320 tonnes, equivalent to 251,300 USD, priced at 785.3 USD/tonne, down by 92% in both volume and value but up by 7.5% in price.
