AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 4 months of the year, Vietnam's total import and export turnover reached 206.76 billion USD, notably, both exports and imports dropped sharply at double digits.

The preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs showed that in April, the country’s export turnover reached 27.86 billion USD, down by 6.2% compared to the previous month.
In the month, there were 7 groups of export products with a turnover of 1 billion USD or more/group. However, there were 6 out of 7 groups with a decrease in turnover, including phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts; textiles and garments; means of transport and spare parts; wood and wood products.
Footwear was the only key export group with positive growth with a turnover of 1.85 billion USD, up by 17.9% over the previous month.
For the whole 4 months, the total export turnover reached 107.16 billion USD, down by 13% over the same period last year and most of the key export commodity groups decreased.
On the other hand, the country’s imports in April only reached 25.2 billion USD, down by 11% from the previous month. In general, in the first 4 months of the year, the country’s import value reached 99.6 billion USD, down by 17.7%.
Notably, key commodity groups and important inputs for export industries such as phones and components; computers, electronic products and components; raw materials for textiles and garments, leather and footwear, etc. fell deeply at double digits, the exports of phones and components decreased by 66%, reaching only 2.52 billion USD.
Generally, in the first four months of the year, the total import-export turnover reached 206.76 billion USD, the trade balance reached a surplus of 7.56 billion USD.
