Fertilizer exports fell sharply in first quarter of 2023
Friday, April 21,2023AsemconnectVietnam - In the first quarter of 2023, the whole country exported 404,912 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 183.58 million USD, with the average price of 453.4 USD/tonne.
According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first quarter of 2023, the whole country exported 404,912 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds, equivalent to 183.58 million USD, the average price was 453.4 USD/tonne, down by 14.6% in volume, down by 40.2% in turnover and 30% in price compared to the first quarter of 2022.
Particularly in March of 2023, 126,638 tonnes of fertilizers of all kinds were exported, reaching 54.62 million USD, priced at 431.3 USD/tonne, down by over 16% in both volume and turnover but increased slightly by 0.2% in price compared with February of 2023. In comparison to March of 2022, the figure increased by 4.2% in volume, but decreased by 16.4% in turnover and decreased by 19.7% in price.
Vietnam's fertilizer exports were mainly to Cambodia, which alone accounted for 26% of the country's total fertilizer export volume and turnover, reaching 105,480 tonnes, equivalent to 47.63 million USD, the average price was 451.5 USD/tonne, increasing by 7.9% in volume but decreasing by 2.2% in turnover and the price decreasing by 9.3% compared to the first quarter of 2022.
Particularly in March of 2023, the exports to this market reached 44,111 tonnes, equivalent to 18.05 million USD, the average price was 409 USD/tonne, up by 56.9% in volume and 37.4% in turnover, but the price decreased by 12.4% compared to February of 2023.
Behind Cambodia's main market was the South Korean market with 44,418 tonnes, equivalent to 16.77 million USD, the average price of 377.5 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 46.3% in volume, but a decrease of 27% in turnover and 50% in price, accounting for 11% of the total volume and 9.1% of the total fertilizer export turnover of the country.
The exports to the Malaysian market reached 29,876 tonnes, equivalent to 10.18 million USD, the average price was 340.6 USD/tonne, down by 23.4% in volume, 34.7% in turnover and 14.7% in price, accounting for 7.4% of the total volume and 5.5% of the total turnover.
The exports to RCEP FTA markets reached 219,925 tonnes, equivalent to 96.5 million USD, down by 4.1% in volume, down by 23.6% in turnover. Meanwhile, the exports to FTA CPTTP markets reached 31,944 tonnes, equivalent to 11.18 million USD, down by 33% in volume, down by 48% in turnover; and the exports to the Southeast Asian market reached 173,439 tonnes, equivalent to 78.73 million USD, down by 8.9% in volume, down by 19.2% in turnover.
