Wheat imports continued to decline in first 10 months of 2025

AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, wheat imports of all kinds in the first 10 months of 2025 reached nearly 4.73 million tonnes, worth of over 1.26 billion USD, with an average price of 267.1 USD/tonne, down by 5.7% in volume, down by 8.3% in turnover and down by 2.7% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024.
In particular, in October of 2025 alone, the import volume reached 533,201 tonnes, equivalent to 141.75 million USD, with an average price of 265.9 USD/tonne, up sharply by 42.8% in volume, up by 43.6% in turnover and up by 0.5% in price compared to September of 2025. Compared to October of 2024, it also increased by 10.5% in volume, 10.6% in turnover and 0.09% in price.
Australia was the largest market supplying wheat to Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2025, accounting for 25.7% of the total volume and 26.4% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, reaching 1.22 million tonnes, equivalent to over 333 million USD, the average price is 273.8 USD/tonne, up by 28.3% in volume, up by 13.9% in turnover but down by 11.2% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2024. In October of 2025 alone, it reached 155,756 tonnes, equivalent to 43.76 million USD, with an average price of 281 USD/tonne, a sharp increase of 2,049% in volume, 2,102% in turnover and 2.5% in price compared to September of 2025. Compared to October of 2024, it also increased by 125.5% in volume, 104.5% in turnover and 9.3% in price.
The second largest market was Brazil. In the first 10 months of 2025, the country’s exports to Brazil reached 989,002 tonnes, equivalent to 254.41 million USD, the price was at 257.2 USD/tonne, accounting for 20.9% of the total volume and 20.1% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, down by 15.8% in volume, down by 13.2% in turnover but price increased 3.1% compared to the first 10 months of 2024. In October of 2025 alone, we didn’t import wheat from this market. The next was the US market with 745,346 tonnes in the first 10 months of 2025, equivalent to 203.41 million USD, price 272.9 USD/tonne, accounting for over 15.8% of the total volume and 16.1% of the total wheat import turnover of the whole country, a sharp increase of 66.6% in volume, an increase of 46.8% in turnover but the price decreased by 11.9% compared to the first 10 months of 2024.
