AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 10 months of 2025, Vietnam spent nearly 2.16 billion USD importing fruits and vegetables, up by 15.3% over the same period. China and the United States continued to be the two largest supplying markets.
China and the United States led the supply of fruits and vegetables to Vietnam
The United States was the second largest supplier of fruits and vegetables to Vietnam, with a turnover of 460.6 million USD after 10 months of 2025.
In October of 2025, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable import turnover reached nearly 250 million USD, up by 8.1% compared to September and up by 18% compared to the same period of 2024. This is a month with stable growth, showing that domestic market demand continues to remain high during the peak consumption season at the end of the year.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the total import expenditure of fruits and vegetables nationwide reached nearly 2.16 billion USD, an increase of 15.3% over the same period of 2024.
The items imported the most by Vietnam include apples, grapes, tangerines, pears, oranges and durians.
In this import picture, China and the United States continued to play the role of two main supply markets. China ranked first with a turnover of 772.7 million USD, although down slightly by 2.7% over the same period but still accounted for 35.8% of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable imports. In October alone, the import volume from this market reached 104.22 million USD, an increase of 10.1% over September and an increase of 6.6% over October last year.
The United States was the second largest supplier with a turnover of 460.6 million USD in 10 months, a sharp increase of 37.5% and accounting for 21.4% of total imports. This increase clearly reflects the trend of Vietnamese consumers preferring high-quality agricultural products, and also shows the effectiveness of free trade agreements and the opening of the market to many types of US fruits.
In addition to the two leading markets, Vietnam also imported large quantities of fruits and vegetables from Australia and New Zealand. The turnover from Australia reached more than 141.5 million USD, up by 8.7%; from New Zealand reached nearly 115.19 million USD, up by 13.1%. The Myanmar market also recorded an import turnover of 119.64 million USD, up by 3.2%.
In general, imports from most markets increased compared to the same period last year, reflecting the expansion of demand for the variety and quality of imported fruits and vegetables.
According to businesses, supply from China and the United States has increased sharply thanks to tax incentives from free trade agreements, the reduction of technical barriers and the effectiveness of market opening negotiations for each type of agricultural product.
On the contrary, fruit and vegetable exports in the first 10 months of 2025 reached 7.05 billion USD, an increase of 14.6% compared to 2024, bringing the total import-export turnover to over 9.2 billion USD. The trade surplus of this group of products reached nearly 4.9 billion USD, showing that Vietnamese agricultural products continue to have a good position in the international market.
With the growth momentum of both imports and exports, fruit and vegetable trade after 10 months continued to maintain a double-digit increase. This shows that domestic consumption, production, processing and distribution demand is expanding evenly.
In the coming time, better utilization of trade agreements, diversification of supply sources and improvement of quality and safety standards will be important factors to help Vietnam stabilize the domestic market and improve the efficiency of fruit and vegetable import and export.
