The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) is the official news service of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV). The VNA provides information in Vietnamese, English, French and Spanish on a wide range of topics, covering political, economic, social, and scientific and technological issues in the country and the world. The VNA’s articles reflect viewpoints of the Communist Party, the State and people of Vietnam on major domestic, regional and international current affairs.
 

The VNA is a government-affiliated agency which is authorized, if necessary, to make official statements reflecting the State's points of view regarding important national and international issues. Through its news reports, photos, daily bulletins, daily and weekly newspapers, magazines, pictorials, and other publications, the VNA provides timely information on current domestic and world events to local and foreign readers, mass media and research institutions.
 

Founded on September 15, 1945, the first wire service bulletin released by the VNA in Vietnamese, English and French carried the Declaration of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam (now the SRV) read by President Ho Chi Minh at Ha Noi's Ba Dinh Square on September 2, 1945.
 

Starting with a small agency, the VNA has developed into a prestigious national press agency information center equipped with modern facilities.
