Vietnam’s exports of coffee, tea and cashews
Sunday, January 26,2020AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in the first eleven months of 2019, Vietnam’s exports of coffee and cashew nuts decreased compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the country’s exports of tea saw year – on – year growth.
Vietnam’s coffee exports decreased
In the first 11 months of 2019, Vietnam’s coffee exports dropped by 22.4 per cent, reaching 2.53 billion USD.
According to preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, in November of 2019, the country exported 112,891 tons of coffee, earning 196.25 million USD, up by 29 per cent in volume and up by 24.6 per cent in turnover over with the preceding month; as compared to the same month last year, it decreased by 18.3 per cent in volume and 23.8 per cent in turnover.
Generally, in the first 11 months of 2019, coffee exports decreased by 14.9 per cent in volume over the same period last year, reaching 1.47 million tons and the value reduced by 22.4 per cent, reaching 2.53 billion USD.
The ccoffee export price in November of 2019 decreased by 3.5 per cent compared to October of 2019 and by 6.7 per cent compared to the same month of 2018, reaching an average of 1,738.4 USD per ton. In the first 11 months of 2019, the export price also decreased by 8.9 per cent over the same period last year, reaching 1,724.1 USD per ton.
Germany market consumed the most coffee of Vietnam. In the first 11 months of this year, the country’s exports of coffee to Germany reached 209,697 tons, equivalent to 325.76 million USD, down by 10.4 per cent in volume and the turnover was down by 21.6 per cent compared to in the same period last year. The US was the second largest market of Vietnam's coffee with the consumption of 131,721 tons, equivalent to 220.19 million USD, down by 20.1 per cent in volume and 28.9 per cent in turnover.
Vietnam’s cashew exports fell both in volume and in value
In the first 11 months of 2019, the whole country exported 413,373 tons of cashew nuts, earning over 2.99 billion USD.
According to calculations from the General Department of Customs, in November of 2019, the country's cashew exports decreased by 6.5 per cent compared to October of 2019 and by 4.1 per cent in turnover, reaching 41,134. tons, earning 292.28 million USD.
The cashew export price in November of 2019 increased by 2.6 per cent compared to October of 2019 but decreased by 10.5 per cent compared to November of 2018, reaching 7,105.5 USD per ton.
On average, in the first 11 months of 2019, the whole country exported 413,373 tons of cashew nuts, earning over 2.99 billion USD, the average price was 7,239.4 USD per ton, up by 21.7 per cent in volume but down by 3.3 per cent in turnover and down by 20.5 per cent in price compared to the first 11 months of 2018.
Vietnam's cashew nuts exported mostly to the United States, which accounted for 32 per cent of the total export volume and total export turnover of cashew nuts of the whole country, with 134,569 tons, equivalent to 944.84 million USD, at 7,021.2 USD per ton, increased by 8.9 per cent in volume but decreased in price and turnover over the same period in 2018, with a decrease of 23.7 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.
Vietnam’s tea exports saw year – on – year growth
According to the General Department of Customs, in the first 11 months of 2019, the country exported 122,451 tons of tea of all kinds, earning 212.16 million USD, up by 5.9 per cent in volume and 8.1 per cent in turnover over the same period of 2018.
In November 2019 alone, the exports of tea reached 14,240 tons, with a turnover of 22.56 million USD, up by 0.8 per cent in volume but down by 6.7 per cent in turnover compared to October of 2019. Compared to November of 2018, it increased by 19.3 per cent in volume and by 0.6 per cent in turnover.
The average export tea price in November of 2019 reached 1,584.4 USD per ton, down by 7.5 per cent compared to October of 2019 and also down by 15.7 per cent compared to the same month of 2018. In the first 11 month of the year, the average price reached 1,732.6 USD per ton, up by 2 per cent compared to the first 11 months of last year.
Pakistan market was the leading in the list of tea export markets of Vietnam, with 42,867 tons, equivalent to 85.11 million USD, accounting for 35 per cent of total export tea volume of the whole country and accounting for 40.1 per cent of the total turnover, increasing by 28.9 per cent in volume and up by 18.2 per cent in turnover over the same period of 2018. The export price to this market decreased by 8.3 per cent over the same period last year, reaching 1,985.5 USD per ton.
