Exports to China decreased in first two months
Tuesday, March 19,2019AsemconnectVietnam - According to preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of goods to China in February 2019 decreased by 32.46 per cent compared to January 2019, equivalent to 1.8 million USD and 5.68 per cent lower than with February of 2018.
In February of 2019 only, the exports of computers, electronics and components reached 475.39 million USD, down by 8.88 per cent compared to January 2019 but increased by 6.74 per cent compared to February of 2018; while the exports of vegetables and fruits decreased by 14.74 per cent, equivalent to 428 million USD. In February of 2019 only, the exports of fruits and vegetables reached 171.23 million USD, down by 33.52 per cent compared to January 2019 and decreased by 17.26 per cent compared to February of 2018.
The main items exported by Vietnam to China in the first two months of this year were computers, electronic products and components; fruits and vegetables, fibers of all kinds, etc. However, in the first two months of this year, the groups of goods with high turnover were computers of electronic products and fruits and vegetables, and all of them saw decrease in turnover.
The exports of computers of electronic products accounted for a large proportion of 22 per cent, reaching over 1 billion USD, but decreased by 8.86 per cent over the same period. In February of 2019 only, the exports of computers, electronics and components reached 475.39 million USD, down by 8.88 per cent compared to January of 2019 but increased by 6.74 per cent compared to February of 2018. Meanwhile, the exports of vegetables and fruits decreased by 14.74 per cent, equivalent to 428 million USD.
In February of 2019 only, the exports of fruits and vegetables reached 171.23 million USD, down by 33.52 per cent compared to January of 2019 and by 17.26 per cent compared to February of 2018. The exports of fibers and yarns of all kinds reached 347,000 USD, with 131,600 tons, increased by 28.43 per cent in value and 20.63 per cent in volume respectively, despite the average export price decreased by 6.08 per cent to only 2,635.16 USD per ton.
Although the total exports of goods to China in the first 2 months of 2019 declined, but the exports ceramic and porcelain products to China increased by 2.5 times over the same period (ie, increased by 147.35 per cent) to 2.03 million; clinker and cement increased by 2.1 times (ie 110.33 per cent) in value and increased 72.73 per cent in volume to 1.62 million tons, worth of 62.9 million USD, with the average export price of 38.76 USD per ton, up by 21.77 per cent; chemicals - increased by 99.02 per cent to 109.9 million USD.
On the other hand, the country’s exports of rice to China in the first two months of this year sharply decreased by 95.14 per cent in volume and 95.48 per cent in value, and the average export price decreased by 7.09 per cent compared to the same period last year to 9,500 tons, worth of 4.5 million USD, with the average price of 472.17 USD per ton.
