Imports of animal feed and materials increased slightly in two months
Saturday, March 16,2019AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported US$242 million worth of animal feed and materials in February of this year, decreased by 34.48 per cent over the previous month and but up by 0.2 per cent in value over the same month of last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
It was followed by the U.S with over $41 million in November, down by 44.64 per cent month – on – month and up by 35.61 per cent over the same month of last year. The figure brought the country’s total imports of animal feed and materials from the U.S in the first 2 months of this year to over $117 million, up by 78.41 per cent year – on – year.
Meanwhile, the imports animal feed and materials from India reached over $14 million in February, down by 42.67 per cent month – on – month and by 27.35 per cent year – on – year. The total imports of animal feed and materials from India in the first 2 months of this year reached over $39 million, decreased by 25.76 per cent year – on – year.
In the first 2 months of this year, Vietnam spent over $613 million on importing animal feed and materials, up by 6.03 per cent over the same period last year.

In the first 2 months of this year, the imports of wheat from the U.S decreased by 99.55 per cent in quantity and 99.47 per cent in value, while the imports from the Brazil decreased by 87.63 per cent in quantity and 84.58 per cent in value; and from Canada – down by 75.18 per cent in quantity and 75.62 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
Soybean: Vietnam’s imports of soybean reached 169,000 tons worth of over $67 million in February and over 326,000 tons worth of $128 million in the first 2 months of this year, increased by 18.25 per cent in quantity and by 10.23 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2018.
Corn: The imports of corn reached over 697,000 tons worth of $148 million in February and over 1.6 million tons worth of $340 million in the first 2 months of this year, increased by 8.49 per cent in quantity and 20.82 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2018.
Especially, in the first 2 months of this year, the imports of corn from Argentina decreased sharply by 69.53 per cent in quantity and 66.27 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.
