Exports of cashew nuts totaled US$2.28 billion in eight months
Wednesday, September 26,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam exported 242,789 tons of cashew nuts worth of US$2.28 billion in the first eight months of this year, increased by 7.8 per cent in quantity and 2.5 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The average cashew export price reached $8,524.2 per ton in August and $9,402.4 per ton in the first eight months of this year.
The EU ranked second with 58,543 tons worth of $562.85 million, down by 4.5 per cent in quantity and 7.5 per cent in value; and then the Netherlands – $278.77 million, down by 21.2 per cent; Canada - $74.71 million, up by 15.4 per cent; and Germany - $73.01 million, up by 14.5 per cent.
The exports of cashew nuts to China reached 26,352 tons worth of $242.45 million, up by 1.1 per cent in quantity but down by 4.1 per cent in value year – on – year.
In the first eight months of this year, the country’s exports of cashew nuts to Ukraine increased sharply by 137.6 per cent in quantity and 143.3 per cent in value over the same period last year to 392 tons worth of $3.59 million; to the Philippines – up by 65.4 per cent in quantity and 80.8 per cent in value to 1,151 tons worth of $10.26 million; to Greece – up by 79 per cent in quantity and 64 per cent in value to 469 tons worth of $4.45 million; to Italy – up by 41 per cent in quantity and 45 per cent in value; to Belgium – up by 50 per cent in quantity and 41.7 per cent in value.
However, the exports of cashew nuts to Pakistan decreased sharply by 95 per cent, both in quantity and in value year – on – year to 14 tons worth of $0.13 million; to Singapore – down by over 32 per cent, both in quantity and in value; and to the Netherlands – down by 20 per cent, both in quantity and in value over the same period last year.
