ASIAD 2018: Vietnam bags another silver in Pencak Silat
Wednesday, August 29,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s Pencak Silat athletes won another silver medal on August 29 at the ongoing 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD) in Indonesia.
The women’s team, including Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Nguyen Thi Huyen and Vuong Thi Binh, secured the medal after earning 464 points in the final round of Seni (artistic) event.
Athletes of the host Indonesia took the gold medal with 466 points.
Earlier, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha and Nguyen Thi Huyen failed to win a medal in the women’s duo performance category, while Vu Tien Dung was also unable to take the podium after only ranking fourth in the men’s single performance event.
Two days ago, Nguyen Ngoc Toan won the third silver medal in Pencak Silat for Vietnam in the men’s 60-65 kg event after losing 1:4 to his Indonesian rival Iqbal Candra.
Also on the same day, Vu Tien Dung, Nguyen Xuan Thanh and Luu Van Nam won a silver medal in the men’s team final.
Meanwhile, other members of the Vietnamese Pencak Silat team Le Hong Quan and Tran Duc Danh earned a silver medal in the men’s double final with 562 points.
On August 26, Pham Tuan Anh, Hoang Thi Loan and Nguyen Duy Tuyen pocketed three bronze medals in the men’s under 70kg, women’s 60-65kg, and men’s 85-90kg categories, respectively.
