Imports of petroleum increased
Thursday, July 5,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported 5.7 tons of petroleum worth of US$ 3.71 billion in the first five months of this year, up by 11.9 per cent in quantity and 37.5 per cent in value over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Malaysia was the biggest petroleum import market in the first five months of this year with 1.74 million tons worth of $ 1.05 billion, increased sharply by 73 per cent in quantity and 127.3 per cent in value over the same period last year, and accounted for 30.5 per cent of the total. Meanwhile, the imports of petroleum from South Korea increased by 16.7 per cent in quantity and 36.9 per cent in value to 1.4 million tons worth of $ 995.89 million.
In the first five months, the country’s imports of petroleum from Singapore decreased sharply by 40.5 per cent in quantity and 25 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 1.26 million tons worth of $ 785.88 million.
The imports of petroleum from Russia rocketed by 11.5 times in quantity and 15.8 times in value to 60,361 tons worth of $ 51.24 million; and the imports from China increased sharply by 61.3 per cent in quantity and 108 per cent in value to 647,421 tons worth of $ 434.3 million.
