 Wednesday, January 23,2019

AsemconnectVietnam - Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to promote closer collaboration with Australia in realizing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) while describing it as an important mechanism for the two countries to further enhance their partnership in economics and trade.

At a reception in Hanoi on January 22 for President of the Senate of Australia Scott Ryan, the top Vietnamese leader said he hopes Vietnam and Australia will maintain their sound Party ties and create firm political connectivity as a basis to foster their strategic partnership in the time to come.
Trong highlighted the significance of the visit by Senate President Scott Ryan as bilateral ties have entered a new phase of more comprehensive development following the establishment of the strategic partnership.
He applauded the outcomes of the talks between the Senate President and the NA Chairwoman and called for the two legislative bodies to continue working together in supervising the implementation of signed agreements and action plans in a bid to step up all-around  cooperation and within ASEAN and regional and global forums.
For his part, Senate President Scott Ryan, briefed his host on the outcomes of his talks with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and assured the Senate of Australia’s willingness to promote its role in stepping cooperation with the Vietnam NA and supporting the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Australia will work hand in hand with Vietnam in maintaining peace, stability, and cooperation in the region as well as in effectively carrying out agreements they engaged, like CPTPP, he told Trong.
He voiced his hope that both sides would augment comprehensive cooperation via the Party, Government, and National Assembly channels and people-to-people and mass organization exchange visits in the time ahead.
