These enterprises are managed by Vietnam Maritime Administration and Ministry of Transport and operated under the charter on organization and operation of Vietnam National Shipping Corporation approved by the Government in Decree No.79/CP of November 22, 1995.
The process of formation and development:
On April 29, 1995, Vietnam Maritime Corporation was established under Decision No.250/TTg of the Prime Minister, on the basis of rearranging some shipping, loading, unloading and service enterprises. These enterprises are managed by Vietnam Maritime Administration and Ministry of Transport and operated under the charter on organization and operation of Vietnam National Shipping Corporation approved by the Government in Decree No.79/CP of November 22, 1995.
On September 29, 2006, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 216/2006/QD-TTg approving the scheme on moving the Vietnam Maritime Corporation into organization and operation under the model of parent company - public Subsidiaries and Decision No. 217/2006/QD-TTg established parent company - Vietnam Maritime Corporation.
On June 25, 2010, the Prime Minister issued Decision No.985/QD-TTg on transforming the parent company - Vietnam Maritime Corporation into a state-owned one-member limited liability company. Currently, Vietnam Maritime Corporation is being organized and operating under the charter approved by the Prime Minister and Decision No.184/QD-TTg dated November 15, 2013.
Over the process of construction and development, Vietnam Maritime Corporation has been playing a key role in Vietnam's marine economy, contributing significantly to the development of the country's economy.
MARINE SERVICES
Vinalines' maritime services are covered over the country, especially in big cities and spread along the country's major seaports. The businesses in the maritime service sector are all big enterprises, the pioneers in the maritime service industry (Some businesses have more than 60 years of experience), which are invested in a formal way with the synchronous and modern equipment system such as ICD Phuoc Long system, ICD Nam Hoa, ICD Lao Cai, CFS warehouse in Dinh Vu, ... as well as modern transport fleet system to fully meet transportation services (inland trucking) covering the whole country, satisfying partners with their requirements and high service standards such as: NYK, MOL, K-line, ... and Big customers from multinational corporations around the world are doing business in Vietnam.
Besides, with the strategic vision investing in people because the quality of service is derived from people, Vinalines now owns enthusiastic, well-trained workforce with experience, deep expertise in the fields of business, exploitation of the maritime service industry to meet and satisfy partners and customers in the country and around the world. EXPLOITING SEAPORTS
Implementing the objectives and orientations of the Vietnam Marine Strategy to 2020 at the resolution of the Fourth Conference of the tenth Central Executive Committee, Vietnam Maritime Corporation strives to continue to maintain the core role of the maritime industry in Vietnam, in which port management and exploitation plays an important role in serving the country's import and export needs and economic development.
Vinalines currently has capital in 15 seaport enterprises and one river port stretching across the country with 80 wharves with a total length of over 13,428m, accounting for 23.53 percent of the total number of wharves and 30.37 percent of the total jetty lengths of the whole country. The seaports held by Vinalines all have a particularly important position in goods circulation and economic development in the region:
- Northern area: There are 5 enterprises. These port enterprises manage and exploit 28 berths with a total length of 4,220m, capable of receiving the largest vessels of 50,000 DWT. Including: Hai Phong Port, CICT Port (joint-venture port between Cai Lan Port Investment Joint Stock Company - a subsidiary of Vinalines and Carrix/SSA - United States, Transvina Port, Vinalines Dinh Vu Port (under construction), Khuyen Luong Port (River port).
- Central region: There are 3 enterprises. These enterprises manage and exploit 13 berths with a total length of about 2,595 m, capable of receiving the largest ships of 40,000 DWT: Nghe Tinh Port, Da Nang Port, Cam Ranh Port.
- Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep - Thi Vai areas: There are 4 enterprises. These enterprises manage and exploit 34 berths with a total length of 5,744m, capable of receiving the largest vessels of 120,000 DWT. Including: Saigon Port, SP-PSA Port (joint venture port between Vinalines, Saigon Port and PSA - Singapore), CMIT Port (joint venture port between Vinalines, Saigon Port and APMT - Denmark), SSIT Port (port joint venture between Vinalines, Saigon Port and Carrix/SSA - United States).
- Southwest region: There are 3 enterprises. These enterprises manage and exploit 5 berths with a total length of 769m, capable of receiving the largest ships of 20,000 DWT. Including: Can Tho Port, Nam Can Port, Hau Giang Port (under construction).
Vinalines' ports are invested in synchronous and modern equipment, ensuring to serve customers according to international standards. The container port system is managed and exploited by joint ventures between Vinalines and partners such as major shipping lines and port operators in the world.
SHIPPING
Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) currently manages and operates a fleet of ships with a total tonnage of over 2 million tons, including bulk carriers, tankers and container ships. Vinalines' fleet accounts for 25 percent of the total tonnage of the national fleet, annually transporting up to 60 percent of exported and imported goods into Vietnam, contributing to the expansion of Vietnam's trade to many countries and territory.
Vinalines' fleet is not only large in number, the total capacity of Vinalines also owns a fleet of the youngest and most modern vessels that fully meet the requirements of the International Convention and the highest rules of International registration organizations belong to IACS members. As a result, Vinalines' vessels have been able to enter ports, oil depots with the most stringent inspection requirements such as oil ports in San Francisco, Houston ... of the United States. With a fleet of quality and safety vessels, exploited by a team of management and crew members who are well trained and professional, Vinalines' vessels are also on the list of ship owners who are less affected by port rights (PSC) according to Paris MOU and TOKYO MOU statistics. All Vinalines' fleets are participating in P&I insurance with big and prestigious P&I associations in the world (in International Group).
