SeABank (SSB) reduces profit target by 15% in 2026
Friday, November 6,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Southeast Asia Commercial Bank (SeABank, ticker SSB) has adjusted its 2026 pre-tax profit target down by 15%, to VND6,008 billion.
Along with this, the bank has restructured its senior management with Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy being elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Mr. Le Van Tan is expected to move to the position of General Director.
According to the newly approved resolution, SeABank adjusted its 2026 pre-tax profit plan down to VND6,008 billion, a 15% reduction from the previous target. The bank stated that the adjustment aims to implement the Government and State Bank of Vietnam's (SBV) direction on supporting production and business, reducing interest rates, and promoting economic growth.
Specifically, SeABank has proactively reduced deposit interest rates by 0.5-0.7 percentage points per year for terms of 6 months or more, thereby creating room to reduce lending interest rates for individual and corporate customers. The bank prioritizes supporting manufacturing, business, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and green projects.
In parallel with the interest rate policy, SeABank stated that it will review its credit portfolio, prioritizing capital for customers with sound financial foundations and effective business plans; strengthen capital management, control operating costs, and leverage the customer ecosystem through credit services, cash flow management, and digital payments.
The reduction in profit targets occurs in the context of the banking industry being oriented towards sharing difficulties with businesses and people through reduced lending interest rates. According to SeABank, the bank will focus on growth quality, risk control, provisioning, and investment in digital technology, rather than prioritizing expansion at all costs.
Along with adjusting the business plan, the Board of Directors of SeABank unanimously elected Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, a member of the Board of Directors, to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the 2023-2028 term, effective from October 22, 2026, after accepting the resignation of Mr. Le Van Tan.
SeABank is also proceeding with the procedures to submit to the State Bank of Vietnam for approval the appointment of Mr. Le Van Tan as General Director, replacing Mr. Le Quoc Long, whose 3-year term is expected to end in November 2026. The appointment of Mr. Tan is currently undergoing the approval process as per regulations.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, born in 1965, holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Banking Academy and has nearly 40 years of experience in the finance and banking sector. She previously worked for over 26 years at the Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank), holding various professional and managerial positions in foreign exchange trading, correspondent banking, and priority customer services.
Joining SeABank in 2015, Ms. Thuy served as Deputy General Director before being elected as a Board Member on April 17, 2024.
According to information from the bank, SeABank's Board of Directors currently has 8 members, including 2 independent members and 3 foreign members.
