Ha Tinh: Export recover, import increase
Wednesday, November 4,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Ha Tinh's exports flourished in October 2026, with turnover increasing by nearly 20% compared to the same period, along with many product groups recording positive growth.
According to October 2026 activity report and November 2026 tasks of Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade, the province's export turnover in October 2026 is estimated at US$180.5 million, an increase of 19.9% compared to the same period in 2025. For the first 10 months of this year, export turnover is estimated at US$1,590.5 million, a decrease of 1.58% compared to the same period and reaching 72.3% of annual plan.
Steel and steel billets remain the province's main export items. For the first 10 months, export turnover of this group of goods reached US$1,162.87 million, accounting for approximately 73.1% of Ha Tinh's total export turnover.
In October alone, export turnover of steel and steel billets is estimated at US$122.6 million, an increase of 28.38% compared to the same period last year. However, overall for the first 10 months, export value of this product group still decreased compared to the same period last year, affecting overall export results due to its large proportion.
Besides steel and steel billets, some items recorded positive growth. In the first 10 months of 2026, export value of wood chips reached US$81.35 million, an increase of 52.77% compared to the same period; textile fibers and yarns reached US$21.04 million, an increase of 66.19%; tea reached US$5.29 million, an increase of 1.73%. Export value of textiles and garments reached US$37.4 million, equivalent to the same period last year.
On import side, turnover in October 2026 is estimated at US$300.5 million, an increase of 36.3% compared to the same period last year. For the first 10 months of the year, cumulative import turnover reached US$2,783.74 million, an increase of 11.14%.
Of which, Formosa Ha Tinh Hung Nghiep Steel Company Limited had a cumulative import turnover of US$1,736.27 million for the first 10 months. In October alone, the company's import turnover is estimated at US$180.7 million, an increase of 12.38% compared to the same period last year.
Along with monitoring import and export developments, Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade continues to implement management and support activities for businesses. From September 16th to October 19th, 2026, the department guided and supported issuance of 295 certificates of origin (C/O). Simultaneously, strengthen surveys of import and export activities and identify difficulties and obstacles faced by businesses.
In November 2026, supporting businesses, implementing import and export regulations and carrying out Plan for Implementation of Ecosystem for Leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) for a period of 2026-2030, with a vision to 2035, will continue to be key aspects of the province's trade and import/export management.
Given that cumulative export turnover has not yet reached 3/4 of annual plan, closely monitoring market developments and understanding business difficulties remains crucial. Results in remaining months of the year will depend on ability to maintain growth momentum of goods showing positive signs, along with export performance of steel and steel billets, which hold a large proportion in Ha Tinh's export structure.
