Panama regards Viet Nam as partner of top importance in Southeast Asia
Thursday, October 8,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Panama's President José Raúl Mulino Quintero affirmed that his country regards Viet Nam as a partner of top importance in Southeast Asia, expressing his wish to further reinforce the comprehensive cooperation with Viet Nam, especially in the fields of economics, trade, and investment.
President Mulino, who is on a four-day official visit to Viet Nam, made the point during his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung in Ha Noi on October 7.
President Mulino promised to assist Viet Nam in accessing markets and supply chains in the Americas through the Panama Canal and its network of seaports, airports, warehouses, and logistics system that meet international standards.
Panama welcomes Vietnamese investors to join major infrastructure projects and cooperate in production and processing of agricultural products, semiconductor development, artificial intelligence, and high-quality human resource training, thereby harnessing the strengths in favor of national development in each country, said President Mulino.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Le urged the Governments of the two countries to focus on concretizing the high-level agreements signed during President Mulino's ongoing visit while strengthening transport, logistics and supply chain connectivity between the two countries.
The two leaders agreed to continue pushing for negotiations on agreements on aviation transport, investment encouragement and protection, security and judicial cooperation, and law enforcement in a bid to create a favorable legal framework for bilateral ties, and promoting cultural, tourism and education cooperation to consolidate the friendship between the two countries.
President Mulino took the occasion to invite Prime Minister Le to pay an official visit to Panama./.
