AsemconnectVietnam - On the afternoon of October 1, at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Hanoi, H.E. Ms. Joanna Skoczek, Polish Ambassador to Vietnam, met with Vietnamese media representatives to talk about the longstanding and close relationship between Vietnam and Poland.
H.E. Ms. Joanna Skoczek, Polish Ambassador to Vietnam, met with Vietnamese media representatives in Hanoi on October 1 afternoon to talk about the longstanding and close relationship between Vietnam and Poland.
According to the ambassador, To date, Vietnam and Poland have maintained more than 75 years of traditional friendship and diplomatic relations. Vietnam is now one of Poland’s major trading partners in Southeast Asia, while Poland is one of Vietnam’s leading partners in Central and Eastern Europe.
Speaking to Vietnam Economic Times’s Anh Hoang at the event, Ambassador Joanna Skoczek emphasized that the potential for economic cooperation between the two countries is vast, spanning a wide range of sectors.
The ambassador highlighted green development and energy as promising areas for Vietnam-Poland cooperation, as Vietnam’s rapidly growing cities need practical solutions for environmental and urban challenges. According to her, in such major cities of Vietnam as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, technologies for water and waste treatment, waste management, and recycling could help improve daily life.
“All the small things that are very important for improving the quality of life of people, and I think that’s one of the objectives for the Vietnamese government to develop very dynamically as a whole economy, but also to upgrade the standard of living for people. This is an opportunity for exchange, not only for exporting technology, but also for investment and joint ventures between Poland and Vietnam,” she said.
The ambassador said that Poland can share experience with Vietnam in digital administration, e-health, and cybersecurity. She compares Poland’s digital administration application with Vietnam’s, noting that both systems make government services accessible online.
“VNEID, for example, is something that we understand because we have quite a similar model in Poland. It is called ‘mObywatel’, and the application also includes many services like administrative services, healthcare appointments and different things. All are available remotely,” she said.
Ms. Skoczek traced the relationship to Vietnamese students who had came to Poland from the late 1950s and 1960s onward. They studied fields including engineering, medicine, shipbuilding, geology, and architecture, with the aim of returning to help rebuild Vietnam after the war. She said those educational ties helped lay a foundation for business connections. Some graduates later established Polish-Vietnamese companies in fields such as geology, architecture, and mining, and she described these companies as part of the backbone of cooperation between the two countries.
“Our goal, our ambition, is to build on that, to develop by sharing experience gained through Poland’s economic reforms and the technologies that supported the country’s development," said Ms. Skoczek.
