AsemconnectVietnam - The preliminary statistics figures from the General Department of Customs showed that, Vietnam's exports of machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts reached US$6.97 billion in August of 2026, a slight increase of 0.98% compared to July of 2026 and a 34.34% rise year-on-year.
In the first eight months of 2026, the country's total export turnover for machinery and equipment reached US$47.29 billion, up by 26.42% compared to the same period of 2025.
The export turnover of the FDI enterprises reached US$6.71 billion in August of 2026, up by 0.93% from July of 2026 and 36.78% from August of 2025. Overall, the total export value for this sector in the first eight months of 2026 reached nearly US$45.11 billion, a 28.16% increase year-on-year; this accounted for a dominant 95.39% share of the country's total machinery and equipment exports (up from 94.1% in the same period of 2025).
The United States continued to maintain its position as Vietnam's largest export market for machinery. In the first eight months of 2026, export turnover to the United States reached US$19.6 billion, a 29.07% increase year-on-year, accounting for 41.45% of the sector's total exports (up from 40.6% during the same period of 2025). Although August of 2026 saw a slight month-on-month decline of 7.24% (to US$2.78 billion) due to the impact of a new 12.5% tariff imposed by the U.S., the 46.85% growth compared to August of 2025 highlights the market's enduring appeal and consumption demand.
The European Union (EU) ranked as Vietnam's second-largest export market for machinery; turnover for the first eight months of 2026 reached US$5.26 billion, up by 14.26% year-on-year, representing an 11.13% share of total exports (down from 12.31% in the same period of 2025).
In August of 2026 alone, machinery exports to the EU totaled US$802.75 million, rising 4.1% month-on-month and 33.82% year-on-year. Within the EU, Germany and the Netherlands were the key partners; machinery exports to Germany hit US$1.17 billion over the eight-month period (up by 27.88%), with August exports surging 124.68% compared to the same month in 2025, driven by high demand for the replacement of industrial machinery and equipment. China ranked third, with machinery exports to this market reaching $4.53 billion in the first eight months of 2026, a 31.33% increase year-on-year, accounting for 9.57% of total exports (up from 9.21% in the same period of 2025). In August of 2026 alone, Vietnam’s machinery exports to this market totaled $679.02 million, up 15.08% compared to August of 2025.
Notably, machinery exports to Brazil reached $295.43 million over the eight-month period, a sharp rise of 114.35% year-on-year; the figure for August of 2026 surged by 479.96% compared to August of 2025, driven by the demand for modernizing agricultural and processing machinery in South America.
Asian markets such as Hong Kong (up by 58.54% to $3.53 billion), Taiwan (up by 54.74% to $1.25 billion) also recorded strong growth. Conversely, some markets saw steep declines, such as Chile (down by 84.62% to $29.06 million) and the UAE (down by 57.39% to $114.14 million).
