Thursday, September 10,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export value continued to accelerate in July of 2026. According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, the export value reached US$1.07 billion in July of 2026, up by 14.9% from June of 2026 and 40.8% year-on-year.
In the first seven months of 2026, total export value stood at US$4.77 billion, a 23.6% increase compared to the same period of 2025.
China remained Vietnam's largest market for fruit and vegetables. In July of 2026, exports to this market reached US$775.1 million, rising 24.8% month-on-month and 60.9% year-on-year. The country’s accumulated exports to China for the first seven months of 2026 totaled US$2.8 billion, up by 33.0% year-on-year, accounting for 58.9% of the country's total fruit and vegetable export value.
Notably, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has officially recognized 18 additional Vietnamese testing laboratories as qualified to analyze food safety parameters (such as Cadmium and Auramine O) for agricultural products, bringing the total number of approved facilities from 32 to 50. This development is considered a positive factor that helps shorten document processing times and reduce the risk of border congestion, while also facilitating the export of durian, jackfruit, and various other fruits to this market. The United States ranked second, with export value reaching $68.9 million in July of 2026, an increase of 16.1% month-on-month and 26.9% year-on-year; the accumulated total reached $361.1 million, up by 14.3% and accounting for 7.6% of total export value.
South Korea ranked third with an export value of $21.2 million, up by 6.8% from the previous month and 13.0% from July of 2025; the accumulated total reached $104.1 million, an increase of 7.8%, representing 2.2% of the country's total fruit and vegetable export value.
The EU market remained a bright spot for Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports, driven by the positive impact of the EVFTA and rising demand for tropical agricultural products. In July of 2026, the export value of fruits and vegetables to the EU reached $45.2 million, down by 1.4% month-on-month but up by 17.7% year-on-year; the accumulated total reached $298.2 million, a 25.8% increase year-on-year, accounting for 6.2% of the country's total fruit and vegetable export value.
Within the EU, the Netherlands was the largest importer of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, with an accumulated seven-month export value of $201.3 million, up by 9.6% year-on-year and accounting for 67.5% of total exports to the EU. It was followed by Germany with $58.4 million (up by 49.5%, accounting for 19.6%) and France, which accounted for 12% of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable exports to the EU.
Overall, fruit and vegetable exports in July and the first seven months of 2026 maintained positive growth momentum, driven primarily by the Chinese market, while the US, South Korea, and the EU continued to play a key role in market diversification. Notably, the high growth rate in the EU indicates significant room for export expansion, particularly for products that effectively meet requirements regarding quality, food safety, traceability, and green standards.
