SGI Holdings Investment Company reports a loss of VND78.5 billion in the first half of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - SGI Holdings Investment Joint Stock Company (SGI - UPCoM) recorded a loss of VND27.4 billion in the second quarter, bringing the cumulative loss for the first half of 2026 to VND78.5 billion.
In the second quarter of 2026, SGI Holdings Investment recorded revenue of VND686.1 billion, an increase of 25.6% compared to the same period last year; the parent company's after-tax profit recorded a loss of VND27.4 billion compared to a loss of VND21.8 billion in the same period last year, an increase of VND5.6 billion. The gross profit margin decreased from 17.1% to 15.7%.
During the period, SGI Holdings Investment's gross profit increased by 15.7% compared to the same period last year, equivalent to an increase of VND14.6 billion, reaching VND107.9 billion. Financial revenue decreased by 16%, equivalent to a decrease of VND13.4 billion, to VND70.1 billion; financial expenses decreased by 44.8%, equivalent to a decrease of VND 36.6 billion, to VND45.2 billion; selling and administrative expenses increased by 18.9%, equivalent to an increase of VND19.7 billion, to VND123.4 billion.
Thus, in the second quarter, the gross profit generated by SGI Holdings Investment was insufficient to cover financial, selling, and administrative expenses; the company only reduced its losses thanks to financial revenue.
Cumulatively in the first half of 2026, SGI Holdings Investment recorded revenue of VND1,203.8 billion, an increase of 16% compared to the same period; the parent company's after-tax profit recorded a loss of VND78.5 billion compared to a profit of VND13.1 billion in the same period, an increase in losses of VND91.5 billion.
In 2026, SGI Holdings Investment plans to achieve revenue of VND2,920.5 billion and after-tax profit of VND46.4 billion for the parent company.
Thus, with losses in the first half of 2026, SGI Holdings Investment is still far from its profit target for 2026.
Regarding asset size, as of June 30, 2026, the total assets of SGI Holdings Investment decreased by 8.3% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to a decrease of VND527.2 billion, to VND5,843.9 billion. Of this, the main assets recorded are VND3,263.4 billion in cash and short-term financial investments, accounting for 55.8% of total assets; VND863.7 billion in short-term receivables, accounting for 14.78% of total assets; and VND583.8 billion in fixed assets, accounting for 9.99% of total assets.
Regarding its securities investment portfolio, SGI Holdings Investment is investing VND29.4 billion in ACB shares, VND9.1 billion in HPG shares, VND10.6 billion in TCB shares, VND16.8 billion in KDH shares, VND21.1 billion in CTG shares, VND60.3 billion in YEG shares, etc.
Also at the end of the second quarter, SGI Holdings Investment had short-term loan receivables totaling VND1,149.7 billion from individuals and organizations. This included a loan of VND38.1 billion to Mr. Cao Minh Son, for which the company has fully provisioned.
Furthermore, regarding capital sources, as of the end of the second quarter, total short-term and long-term debt decreased by 31.3% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to a decrease of VND769.5 billion, to VND1,691.7 billion, representing 60% of total equity. Of that amount, short-term debt was VND1,691 billion and long-term debt was VND0.6 billion.
