DIC Corp (DIG) escapes loss in Q2/2026 thanks to financial activities

AsemconnectVietnam - The Construction Investment Development Corporation (DIC Corp, ticker DIG - HOSE) recorded a profit of VND143.44 billion in the second quarter, bringing the cumulative profit for the first half of 2026 to VND133.54 billion, and only completing 24.3% of its ambitious 2026 plan.
In the second quarter of 2026, DIC Corp recorded revenue of VND613.25 billion, an increase of 123.6% compared to the same period last year; after-tax profit reached VND143.44 billion, an increase of 174.8% compared to the same period last year. However, the gross profit margin decreased sharply from 39% to 6.9%.
During the period, despite increased revenue, DIC Corp recorded a 60.7% decrease in gross profit compared to the same period last year due to a sharp decline in gross profit margin, equivalent to a decrease of VND64.87 billion, to VND42.02 billion.
Furthermore, during the same period, financial revenue increased 16.18 times, equivalent to an increase of VND108.9 billion, to VND115.63 billion; financial expenses decreased by VND7.43 billion, to a negative VND5.92 billion; profit from joint ventures and associated companies increased by 467.6%, equivalent to an increase of VND33.06 billion, to VND40.13 billion; selling and administrative expenses decreased by 29.2%, equivalent to a decrease of VND21.76 billion, to VND52.68 billion; and other activities showed insignificant fluctuations.
Thus, during the period, the gross profit generated was insufficient to cover selling and administrative expenses. DIC Corp's profit was mainly due to the recognition of a significant increase in financial revenue, as well as profits from joint ventures and associated companies.
Cumulatively in the first half of 2026, DIC Corp recorded revenue of VND757.8 billion, an increase of 77.4% compared to the same period; after-tax profit reached VND133.54 billion (Q1 loss of VND9.91 billion), an increase of 18.78 times compared to the same period.
In 2026, DIC Corp plans consolidated revenue of VND3,000 billion, a decrease of 37% compared to 2025; pre-tax profit is expected to be VND600 billion, a decrease of 27.2% compared to the same period; total investment is expected to be VND4,371.54 billion; and the expected dividend is 6%.
Thus, ending the first half of 2026 with pre-tax profit reaching VND145.9 billion, DIC Corp has only completed 24.3% of its annual plan.
In terms of asset size, as of June 30, 2026, DIC Corp's total assets increased by 8.1% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to an increase of VND1,526.8 billion, reaching VND20,486.4 billion. Of this, the main assets recorded are VND6,512.8 billion in inventory, accounting for 31.79% of total assets; VND5,807.8 billion in short-term receivables, accounting for 28.35% of total assets; and VND5,575.5 billion in cash and short-term financial investments, accounting for 27.22% of total assets.
DIC Corp explained that its inventory mainly consists of VND2,209.96 billion for the Nam Vinh Yen New Urban Area project, VND1,242.4 billion for the A2 – Vung Tau Center Point apartment project, VND1,109.97 billion for the P4 Hau Giang residential area project, and VND1,069.9 billion for the Long Tan tourist area project…
