Vietnam's fetilizer exports saw strong growth
Tuesday, August 4,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - In June of 2026, Vietnam's fertilizer exports continued their positive growth momentum, particularly in Asian markets.
ASEAN remained the largest export market, while South Korea and several other markets such as the Philippines and Thailand recorded very high growth rates, reflecting the continued improvement in demand for fertilizers for agricultural production.
ASEAN continued to be Vietnam's largest fertilizer export market with 117,790 tonnes, valued at US$62.49 million in June, an increase of 21.48% in volume and 29.82% in value compared to the previous month, accounting for 36.40% of total export turnover. In the first six months of the year, the country’s exports to ASEAN reached 674,160 tonnes, valued at US$325.21 million, an increase of 15.62% in volume and 39.73% in value compared to the same period in 2015, accounting for 34.87% of total export turnover.
Within the ASEAN bloc, Cambodia continued to be the largest market with 330,630 tonnes, valued at US$145.70 million in the first six months of the year. However, export volume decreased by 12.73%, while value only increased slightly by 1.10%, indicating a slowdown in demand. Conversely, the Philippines stood out with increases of 106.21% in volume and 157.59% in value; Thailand saw strong growth of 326.26% in volume and 451.78% in value, while Myanmar and Malaysia also maintained positive growth.
Outside of ASEAN, South Korea continued to be the second largest export market with 148,560 tonnes, valued at US$103.94 million in the first six months of the year, an increase of 36.32% in volume and 132.31% in value compared to the same period last year, reflecting stable import demand and improved export prices. The export of fertilizer to Japan reached 19,980 tonnes, a decrease of 26.73% in volume but still an increase of 7.98% in value, while exports to Taiwan decreased in both volume (45.08%) and value (19.00%). In addition, although the Mozambique market was still small in size, export value still increased by 8.47%, showing potential for expansion in some African markets.
The structure of Vietnam's fertilizer export market in the first six months of 2026 continued to focus on the ASEAN region, while also recording strong growth in South Korea and several Southeast Asian markets such as the Philippines and Thailand. This trend indicates that fertilizer demand in the region remains high, creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to expand their market share and increase export turnover in the coming period.
