Vinasun (VNS) reports loss of VND20.1 billion in Q2/2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam Anh Duong Joint Stock Company (Vinasun, ticker VNS - HOSE) recorded a loss of VND20.1 billion in the second quarter, bringing the cumulative loss for the first half of 2026 to VND13.93 billion.

In the second quarter of 2026, Vinasun recorded revenue of VND194.32 billion, a decrease of 10.3% compared to the same period last year; after-tax profit recorded a loss of VND20.1 billion compared to a profit of VND9.94 billion in the same period last year, a decrease of VND30.04 billion. The gross profit margin decreased from 22.2% to 12.8%. Consequently, gross profit decreased by 48.3% compared to the same period last year, corresponding to a decrease of VND23.31 billion to VND24.91 billion.
During the same period, financial revenue decreased by 44.8% year-on-year, a decrease of VND1.5 billion to VND1.85 billion; financial expenses increased by 11.6%, an increase of VND 0.92 billion to VND8.85 billion; selling and administrative expenses decreased by 2.3%, a decrease of VND0.86 billion to VND37.1 billion.
Therefore, in the second quarter, gross profit was insufficient to cover expenses, resulting in a loss for the company.
Cumulatively for the first half of 2026, Vinasun recorded revenue of VND419.06 billion, a decrease of 7.1% year-on-year; after-tax profit recorded a loss of VND13.93 billion compared to a profit of VND24.1 billion in the same period, a decrease of VND38.03 billion.
In 2026, the company aims for a slight increase in total revenue and income compared to the previous year, reaching VND 919.64 billion; while total after-tax profit is expected to decrease by more than 16.5%, to VND 32.68 billion.
With losses in the first half of 2026, Vinasun is still far from achieving its profit target for 2026.
As of June 30th, Vinasun's total assets decreased by 3.3% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to a decrease of VND57.8 billion, to VND1,715.8 billion. Of this, the main assets recorded are VND1,424.8 billion in fixed assets, accounting for 83.04% of total assets; and VND141.1 billion in cash and short-term financial investments, accounting for 8.22% of total assets.
Regarding funding sources, as of the end of the second quarter, Vinasun's total borrowings decreased by 6.4% compared to the beginning of the year, equivalent to a reduction of VND31.7 billion, to VND 467.1 billion, representing 42.2% of total equity.
