Electronics and phone exports drive Vietnam’s trade growth

AsemconnectVietnam - The two product groups accounting for more than 60% of the $46.33 billion increase in Vietnam’s total merchandise exports in the first half of 2026.

Vietnam’s exports of computers, electronic products and components increased by $23.44 billion in the first half of 2026, while exports of phones and components rose by $4.8 billion, according to the Vietnam Customs.
Together, the two product groups accounted for more than 60% of the $46.33 billion increase in Vietnam’s total merchandise exports compared with the same period last year.
Exports of computers, electronic products and components reached $14.94 billion in June, bringing the six-month total to $71.16 billion, equivalent to 26.7% of the country’s total export turnover. The sector recorded year-on-year growth of 49.1%, representing an increase of $23.44 billion.
The US remained the largest export market for the product group, with shipments reaching $28 billion in the first six months, up 51.4% year-on-year, or $9.5 billion. China ranked second with $11.8 billion, up 43.9%, followed by Hong Kong (China) at $6.77 billion, up 44.1%; South Korea at $4.56 billion, up 10.6%; and Mexico at $1.41 billion, marking a sharp increase of 170%.
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s phone and component exports reached $5.32 billion in June, up 4.6% from the previous month. Six-month exports totalled $31.69 billion, accounting for 11.9% of the country’s total export turnover and rising 17.8% year-on-year, equivalent to an increase of $4.8 billion.
China was the largest export market for phones and components, with shipments valued at $6.94 billion, up 27.7%. The US followed with $5.61 billion, up 4.8%.
