Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to have welcomed more than 7.13 million international visitors in the first seven months of 2026, up 42.7% year-on-year and equivalent to nearly 65% of its full-year target.

Domestic tourist arrivals reached an estimated 31.67 million, fulfilling more than 63% of the annual target. Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND237.466 trillion ($9.1 billion), up 55.3% from the same period last year and equivalent to around 72% of the full-year revenue target.

Building on these results, the city's tourism sector aims to welcome around three million international visitors and 25 million domestic tourists in the third quarter, bringing cumulative tourism revenue to approximately 70% of the annual target.

In the fourth quarter, the sector plans to attract an additional three million international visitors and 10 million domestic tourists, with the goal of meeting or exceeding the VND330 trillion revenue target set for 2026.

According to a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, achieving these targets will require the city to shift from viewing tourism as a standalone service sector toward developing it as a comprehensive ecosystem that leverages its urban, industrial, coastal and cultural strengths.

High-value tourism products, including MICE, cruise and medical tourism, will be prioritised to extend visitors' stays and increase their spending.

Among these segments, MICE tourism is continuing to grow in both visitor numbers and spending, according to travel companies.
