Le made the above statement during his reception for U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Jennifer Wicks in Ha Noi on July 13.
Le extended his congratulations to Ms. Jennifer Wicks on her appointment as the U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam. He also conveyed his regards to President Donald Trump and congratulated the Government and people of the U.S. on the occasion of their 250th Independence Day.
The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that, with her extensive years of service within the U.S. Administration and her deep understanding of the region, the Ambassador would enjoy a successful tenure, making significant contributions to fostering a stable, substantive, and effective development of the Viet Nam - U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Le affirmed that Viet Nam consistently regards the U.S. as one of its top important partners and supports a positive role by the U.S. in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
He urged the Ambassador and the U.S. Embassy to maximize their bridging role to facilitate high-level delegation exchanges, and to coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities to substantiate practical areas of cooperation.
He also called for frank discussions on remaining differences in a spirit of mutual respect, ensuring that pending issues do not hinder the overall momentum of bilateral relations.
The Prime Minister noted that both sides need to promote economic and trade cooperation in a harmonious, sustainable, and mutually beneficial manner; switfly resolve bottlenecks, soon conclude negotiations and sign a reciprocal, fair, and balanced trade agreement, thereby creating a stable framework for businesses from both nations to expand investment, production, and business operations.
Le affirmed that Viet Nam is accelerating administrative reforms and perfecting its legal system toward transparency and modernity to better facilitate U.S. enterprises, adding that the country stands ready to listen to and address the legitimate concerns of businesses.
Regarding defense and security, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides enhance cooperation in law enforcement, humanitarian assistance, cybersecurity, and transnational crime prevention.
He expressed his gratitude for the U.S. assistance in overcoming war legacies, calling for the U.S. continued support for dioxin remediation, unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance, assistance for persons with disabilities, as well as the sharing of archives, documents, and DNA analysis technology to support the search for and identification of Vietnamese martyrs' remains. The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Viet Nam's commitment to the search for U.S. personnel missing in action (MIA).
In addition, Le suggested the two countries expand cooperation in science and technology, innovation, human resource development, digital transformation, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.
For her part, Ambassador Jennifer Wicks recalled her honor of being received by General Secretary and President To Lam. She shared the General Secretary and President's assessment that the Viet Nam - U.S. relationship has never been better than it is today.
Wicks stated that the U.S. attaches great importance to its relations with Viet Nam. She conveyed the message "proud to be a partner of Viet Nam" along with words of appreciation from President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Viet Nam's senior leadership following their congratulations on the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Independence Day.
The diplomat emphasized that economic and trade cooperation remains a top priority during her term. She expressed her desire for both sides to maintain active exchanges to soon achieve a high-standard, reciprocal, fair, and balanced trade agreement, thereby creating more economic and investment opportunities for both countries.
On defense and security, Ambassador Wicks observed that there remains ample room for cooperation in maritime security, law enforcement, and addressing transnational security challenges.
The Ambassador committed to continuing to promote cooperation in overcoming war legacies, viewing this as an important humanitarian foundation of the bilateral relationship. She expressed her desire to expand programs for dioxin remediation, UXO clearance, assistance for persons with disabilities, the search and identification of Vietnamese martyrs, and the repatriation of U.S. servicemen's remains.
The Ambassador also committed to promoting bilateral cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern. She spoke highly of Viet Nam's role and expressed the desire for both sides to coordinate closely within the framework of the Peace Council on Gaza./.
