Agricultural commodity prices on July 14: King mandarin prices surge

 Wednesday, July 15,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Agricultural commodity prices on July 14: Corn prices remained at a high level; king mandarin prices surged; Thai durian rose by VND2,000–6,000/kg, while lemon prices fell sharply compared to July 13.

 Corn prices remained high
Farmers growing waxy corn and sweet corn (American corn) across many localities in Vietnam's Mekong Delta benefitied from persistently high prices, which have helped improve their incomes.
Large-sized waxy corn was purchased by traders directly at farms for VND55,000-60,000 per dozen (14 ears), up about VND5,000 per dozen compared with several months ago and marking the highest level in recent growing seasons.
For American corn, farmgate prices ranged from VND5,000-6,000 per ear (weighing approximately 0.5 kg per ear), up significantly from the same period last year, allowing many farmers to earn solid profits. Strong demand and limited supply, as many growers have reduced planting areas, continue to support prices.
According to traders, corn prices remained elevated due to steady demand from wholesale markets, supermarkets, restaurants and food processors, while market supply remains relatively tight. Corn cultivation areas have shrunk in many localities as some farmers have switched to crops offering higher economic returns.
Limited supplies coupled with resilient demand kept corn prices at high levels. Given the current market conditions, many farmers expected prices to remain stable in the coming months, helping improve incomes and encouraging production expansion in suitable growing areas.
King mandarin prices surged on tight supply
King mandarin prices across many Mekong Delta provinces rose sharply, reaching their highest levels in several months and bringing positive signals for growers after a prolonged period of depressed prices. Compared with about one month earlier, prices increased by VND 1,000-3,000/kg, depending on the grade.
Large-sized king mandarins, with 3-6 fruits/kg, were purchased by traders and collection stations at VND10,000-13,000/kg, while fruit sized 7-10 fruits/kg sold for VND6,000-9,000/kg. Meanwhile, prices for small-sized mandarins also increased to VND4,000-5,000/kg.
According to growers and traders, the increase was mainly driven by a noticeable decline in market supply, as harvest volumes were limited. In addition to seasonal factors, mandarin-growing areas in many localities had contracted significantly after years of low prices that caused losses for growers. Many farmers cut down their mandarin orchards and switched to other fruit trees or crops with better economic returns, reducing king mandarin supplies compared with previous years.
Meanwhile, domestic demand remained stable, particularly from wholesale markets, supermarkets and retail chains, helping lift procurement prices. Under prevailing market conditions, many growers expected prices to remain at profitable levels provided supply did not increase sharply, allowing them to improve incomes and gradually restore production after a prolonged difficult period.
Thai durian rises by VND2,000-6,000/kg
Durian prices showed positive movements across major growing regions. Grade A Thai durian in the Mekong Delta was priced at VND61,000-66,000/kg, up VND2,000-6,000/kg from the previous day, while Ri6 has recovered after several consecutive sessions of decline. Black Thorn continues to command the highest prices in the market.
Grade A Thai durian is traded at VND61,000-66,000/kg.
Grade A Ri6 durian was priced at VND33,000-40,000/kg, while Grade B stands at VND22,000/kg. Grade A Black Thorn durian was traded at VND110,000/kg, while Grade B remained at VND90,000/kg.
In the Central Highlands, Grade A Thai durian was priced at VND66,000-67,000/kg, while Grade B was at VND46,000/kg.
In Dong Nai Province, Grade A Thai durian ranges from VND 60,000-64,000/kg, while Grade B was traded at VND40,000-44,000/kg. Grade A Ri6 was purchased at around VND36,000/kg, while Grade B stands at VND 21,000/kg. Grade A Black Thorn remained at VND110,000/kg, while Grade B was VND90,000/kg.
In Dak Lak Province, Grade A Thai durian was priced at VND62,000-65,000/kg, while Grade B ranges from VND42,000-44,000/kg. Ri6 prices have also shown signs of recovery after several consecutive sessions of decline. In the Mekong Delta, Grade A Ri6 ranged from VND33,000-40,000/kg, while Grade B was around VND22,000/kg. In Dong Nai, Grade A Ri6 was purchased at around VND36,000/kg, while Grade B stands at VND21,000/kg.
The Black Thorn segment continued to maintain its position as the highest-priced durian variety on the market. In both the Mekong Delta and Dong Nai, Grade A Black Thorn was purchased at VND110,000/kg, while Grade B remained at VND90,000/kg.
Lemon prices fell sharply
Just a few months ago, after the Lunar New Year holiday, lemon growers in the Mekong Delta were encouraged as lemon prices repeatedly reached impressive highs, at one point exceeding VND30,000/kg.
However, as the main harvest season began, lemon output from orchards increased sharply, creating abundant market supply. As a result, prices of this agricultural product declined significantly.
According to market surveys, traders are currently purchasing seeded lemons and other traditional lemon varieties for domestic consumption at only VND2,500-3,000/kg, down by more than VND10,000/kg compared with last month.
A representative of a purchasing company said that the buying price for seedless lemons in the open market outside agency channels is currently around VND6,500/kg.
