Paper exports increased in first half of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the Customs Department, in June 2026, Vietnam's exports of paper and paper products are estimated to reach US$219.24 million, an increase of 2.1% compared to May 2026 and an increase of 22.46% compared to June 2025.
Overall, in the first six months of 2026, the total export value of paper and paper products nationwide is estimated at US$965.56 million, an increase of 12.1% compared to the same period in 2025.
Previously, in May 2026, Vietnam's exports of paper and paper products reached US$219.24 million, an increase of 2.07% compared to April 2026 and an increase of 22.38% compared to May 2025, accounting for 0.47% of the country's total merchandise export value. Overall, in the first five months of 2026, the total export value of paper and paper products nationwide reached US$965.57 million, an increase of 12.08% compared to the same period in 2025.
Of which, exports of paper and paper products by FDI enterprises in May 2026 reached US$136.41 million, a decrease of 0.09% compared to April 2026 and an increase of 15.31% compared to May 2025. The total export value of paper and paper products by this group of enterprises in the first five months of 2026 reached nearly US$599.45 million, an increase of 15.88% compared to the same period in 2025; accounting for 62.08% of the total paper export value of the whole country (an expansion compared to 60.04% in the same period of 2025).
Regarding export markets, Vietnam mainly exports paper to the United States and ASEAN, accounting for nearly 70% of the country's total paper export value.
The United States was Vietnam's largest export market for paper and paper products, with a total export value of US$366.90 million in the first five months of 2026, an increase of 19.06% compared to the first five months of 2025; accounting for 38% of the country's total paper export value (an expansion from the 35.77% share in the first five months of 2025).
ASEAN was Vietnam's second largest paper export market, with a total export value of US$316.21 million in the first five months of 2026, an increase of 26.12% compared to the first five months of 2025. This accounted for 32.75% of the total (an increase from 29.10% in the first five months of 2025). Of these, Cambodia, Thailand, and Indonesia were the three largest consuming markets, accounting for 74.87% of the total paper export value to this market bloc.
The third was exports to Taiwan, with a total value of US$50.56 million in the first five months of 2026, an increase of 10.26% compared to the first five months of 2025; accounting for 5.24% (an increase from 3.01% in the first five months of 2025).
The followings were the exports to the following markets: China (4.31%), Australia (3.79%), Japan (3.30%), South Korea (1.60%), etc.
