Vietnam commodities update, July 13: Rice export prices steady, domestic coffee and pepper markets stable

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's commodity markets showed mixed trends on Monday. Export rice prices held firm, while domestic coffee and pepper markets remained largely unchanged. Gold prices declined across the board, durian prices eased in several growing regions, and live hog prices continued to diverge between northern and southern Vietnam.

Domestic gold prices fall
At 8:34 a.m., SJC gold bars were quoted at 145.9 million-148.9 million dong per tael (buying-selling), down 1 million dong per tael on both sides from the previous weekend's close.
SJC plain gold rings (1-5 chi) fell 1.2 million dong per tael, trading at 145.4 million-148.4 million dong per tael.
Bao Tin Manh Hai quoted its 9999 plain gold rings at 144 million-148 million dong per tael, down 1 million dong per tael on both buying and selling prices.
Bao Tin Minh Chau also cut prices of its plain gold rings by 1 million dong per tael, with buying and selling prices standing at 144 million-148 million dong per tael.
Domestic construction steel prices unchanged
Domestic steel producers kept construction steel prices unchanged.
Hoa Phat quoted both CB240 and D10 CB300 rebar at 15,120 dong per kg. Viet Y Steel in northern Vietnam maintained CB240 at 14,850 dong per kg, while Viet Duc Steel kept both CB240 and D10 CB300 at 14,750 dong per kg.
VJS Steel quoted CB240 at 14,850 dong per kg and D10 CB300 at 14,750 dong per kg. Thai Nguyen Steel maintained CB240 at 14,990 dong per kg and D10 CB300 at 14,890 dong per kg.
Domestic coffee stable, global prices fall
Domestic coffee prices were unchanged across the Central Highlands, ranging from 94,700 dong to 95,300 dong per kg.
Lam Dong (former province) remained the lowest-priced locality at 94,700 dong per kg. Dak Lak and Gia Lai both traded at 95,200 dong per kg, while Dak Nong (now part of Lam Dong Province) continued to post the highest price at 95,300 dong per kg.
On overseas markets, London robusta coffee futures fell sharply. The September 2026 contract lost 4.72%, or 191 USD per ton, to 3,852 USD per ton, while the November 2026 contract dropped 4.57% to 3,819 USD per ton.
New York arabica futures also weakened, with the September 2026 contract declining 3.92% to 334.25 U.S. cents per pound.
Domestic pepper market holds steady
Domestic pepper prices remained stable in the 138,000-141,000 dong per kg range.
Dak Nong (now part of Lam Dong Province) led the market at 141,000 dong per kg, followed by Dak Lak at 140,000 dong per kg. Gia Lai and Dong Nai were both quoted at 138,000 dong per kg.
According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), Vietnam's black pepper export prices fell about 4%, or 250 USD per ton, to 5,850-5,950 USD per ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades.
Vietnam's white pepper export price dropped 800 USD per ton, or nearly 9%, to 8,200 USD per ton.
Elsewhere, Indonesian black pepper declined 55 USD per ton to 7,079 USD per ton, while prices in Brazil and Malaysia were unchanged.
Export rice prices remain firm
Rice trading in the Mekong Delta remained subdued for fresh paddy, while export-grade rice prices continued to hold at elevated levels.
Fresh Dai Thom 8 paddy traded at 6,450-6,600 dong per kg, while OM 18 fetched 6,300-6,500 dong per kg. IR 50404, OM 5451 and OM 34 varieties were quoted at 5,600-5,800 dong per kg.
Among rice products, OM 5451 rice was traded at 9,500-9,600 dong per kg, CL 555 at 9,400-9,500 dong per kg, and finished IR 504 rice at 10,750-10,900 dong per kg.
Vietnam's export rice prices remained competitive, with Jasmine rice quoted at 513-517 USD per ton, while 5% broken fragrant rice held at 510-520 USD per ton, maintaining an advantage over supplies from Thailand and India.
Durian prices ease
Durian prices fell by 1,000-3,000 dong per kg in several producing areas, particularly for Thai Monthong Grade A fruit.
In the Mekong Delta, Thai Monthong Grade A traded at 59,000-60,000 dong per kg, while Grade B fetched 39,000-40,000 dong per kg.
Ri6 Grade A remained at 37,000 dong per kg, while premium Black Thorn Grade A held firm at 110,000 dong per kg.
Thai Monthong Grade A prices in Tay Ninh and Dak Lak ranged between 63,000 and 67,000 dong per kg. In Dong Nai, Grade A fruit traded at 61,000-63,000 dong per kg, while lower-quality fruit was quoted at 40,000-53,000 dong per kg.
Live hog prices remain divided by region
Live hog prices across Vietnam ranged from 61,000 to 66,000 dong per kg, with regional differences persisting.
Northern provinces continued to post the highest prices, with Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh and Hanoi all trading at 66,000 dong per kg. Price differences within the region remained narrow at around 1,000 dong per kg.
Central Vietnam recorded prices between 61,000 and 65,000 dong per kg, with Thanh Hoa and Nghe An among the highest-priced markets.
Southern Vietnam remained comparatively weaker, with prices ranging from 61,000 to 63,000 dong per kg. Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City traded at 63,000 dong per kg, while Dong Thap, An Giang and Ca Mau recorded the country's lowest prices.
Domestic rubber stable, overseas markets mixed
Domestic rubber producers kept procurement prices unchanged.
Phu Rieng Rubber quoted mixed latex at 390 dong/DRC and latex at 420 dong/TSC. Mang Yang Rubber purchased Grade 1 latex at 463 dong/TSC. Binh Long and Ba Ria rubber companies also maintained unchanged buying prices.
On international markets, rubber prices were mixed. The August contract on the Osaka Exchange rose to 415.5 yen per kg, while Thailand's RSS3 rubber increased to 91.3 baht per kg.
Meanwhile, the August rubber contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell 130 yuan to 16,795 yuan per ton, while the butadiene contract gained 1.97%.
