Vietnam's manufacturing sector maintained stable growth, fueling 2026 industrial growth target

 Thursday, July 9,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's manufacturing PMI continued to stay above 50 points in June of 2026, indicating improved business confidence and continued positive growth in industrial production.

The industry needs further impetus from large-scale projects.
According to the Department of Industry, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with a positive growth foundation in the first months of the year, along with the proactive efforts of the business community, the industrial sector is expected to continue to be an important driving force, contributing to the realization of the 2026 economic growth target.
Notably, Vietnam's key industries, such as electricity and electronics production; metallurgy, iron and steel; textiles, leather and footwear; mechanical processing, automobiles, motorcycles; mining and mineral processing, etc. continue to develop. In particular, several export industries (electronics, textiles, footwear, etc.) have established a strong position in the international market, with high export rankings in the region and the world.
To achieve this result, some economic experts believe that associations and industries have actively strengthened business connections and boosted product consumption. Businesses have restructured, reduced costs and production prices to enhance product competitiveness, thereby improving efficiency and adapting flexibly to the new situation.
Regarding this, Mr. Quach Quang Dong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry Information, said that industry has the unique characteristic of requiring large capital, a long capital turnover time, and profit margins that are not as attractive as some other economic sectors. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid large fluctuations in the macroeconomic environment in order to maintain stability and development. More large-scale, efficient projects are needed in the energy, mining, infrastructure, and foundational industries (from public or private investment sources) to create new impetus for industrial production development.
With the increasing demand for economic growth, the continued double-digit growth rate of industrial production not only contributes significantly to the province's overall economic growth but also demonstrates the effectiveness of the industrial development orientation towards modernity, selectivity, and sustainability. This also provides a basis for industrial production to continue expanding its growth potential, enhancing competitiveness, and creating a foundation for achieving socio-economic development goals in the coming period.
Furthermore, to concretize the target of double-digit industrial production growth, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to effectively implement working programs with localities and existing business support programs to promote the growth momentum of industries in key economic regions, creating momentum to further boost industrial growth nationwide.
