According to the Vietnam Statistics Office, the country exported 1.054 million tonnes of coffee in the first six months of 2026, up 7.3% from the same period a year earlier. However, export revenue fell 13.8% year on year to 4.8 billion USD, indicating a sharp decline in average export prices.
Coffee exports in June were estimated at 126,000 tonnes, generating 586 million USD in revenue. Compared with June 2025, export volume increased 4%, while export earnings dropped 15.8%, reflecting continued corrections in global coffee prices following the sharp rally recorded in 2025.
Vietnam's average coffee export price reached approximately 4,554 USD per tonne during the first half of the year. In June alone, the average export price improved to around 4,651 USD per tonne, suggesting some recovery from the six-month average, although it remained well below the level recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.
The market trend reflects improving global supplies, particularly from Brazil, one of the world's largest coffee producers. At the same time, profit-taking on international futures exchanges has contributed to lower coffee prices from last year's peaks, weighing on Vietnam's export prices.
Looking ahead, Vietnam's coffee sector faces a number of challenges in the 2026/27 crop year. Prolonged hot and dry weather across parts of Asia, driven by El Niño, could adversely affect flowering, fruit setting and crop development. If dry conditions persist in the coming months, output from the new crop may decline, reducing exportable supplies.
Market participants said Vietnam's coffee export outlook for the second half of 2026 will largely depend on global supply-demand developments and the performance of the new harvest. Coffee prices could regain support if adverse weather curbs production in major producing countries. However, should global supplies continue to recover, downward pressure on prices is likely to persist, making it difficult for export earnings to increase in line with higher shipment volumes.
