AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic coffee prices rose by 400-700 VND/kg over the past week, returning to the 90,000 VND/kg mark in several localities.

By the end of the trading week, Vietnam's domestic coffee market recorded a modest recovery across the Central Highlands, with procurement prices ranging from 89,400 VND/kg to 90,000 VND/kg, up 400-700 VND/kg from the previous week's close.
Dak Nong Province (now part of Lam Dong Province following the administrative restructuring) posted the highest coffee price nationwide, rising by about 700 VND/kg to 90,000 VND/kg.
In Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces, coffee prices both increased by around 600 VND/kg to 89,400 VND/kg.
Lam Dong Province continued to record the lowest price among the surveyed localities, although it also gained about 400 VND/kg to reach 89,400 VND/kg.
According to coffee buyers, the return of prices to the 90,000 VND/kg level encouraged some farmers to sell beans and lock in profits. However, many growers continued to hold back stocks in anticipation of further price gains.
In the international market, coffee prices ended the week higher on both major exchanges.
On the London exchange, the July 2026 Robusta contract climbed by 177 USD per tonne, or nearly 5% from the previous week, to 3,817 USD per tonne. The September 2026 contract also gained about 35 USD per tonne to 3,627 USD per tonne.
On the New York exchange, the July Arabica contract rose by about 4.2% to 286.75 U.S. cents per pound, while the September contract advanced about 2% to 273.2 U.S. cents per pound.
Vietnam's coffee exports continued to decline
Vietnam's coffee exports declined further in May 2026 as domestic supplies remained limited.
According to data from the Vietnam Customs Department, the country exported 143,000 tonnes of coffee worth 639.4 million USD in May 2026, down 24.7% in volume and 22.3% in value from April 2026. Compared with May 2025, export volume fell 10.8%, while export value dropped 30.3%.
In the first five months of 2026, Vietnam exported 927,300 tonnes of coffee worth 4.23 billion USD, up 7.8% in volume but down 13.5% in value from the same period last year as export prices fell sharply.
The average export price reached 4,471 USD per tonne in May, up 3.2% from April but down 21.8% from May 2025. For the January-May period, the average export price stood at 4,557 USD per tonne, down 19.7% year-on-year.
Coffee shipments to most major export destinations declined in May compared with the previous month, with Japan being the only major market to record an increase. However, exports to most key markets still posted positive growth during the first five months of the year.
Europe remained Vietnam's largest coffee-consuming region and continued to play a pivotal role in the country's coffee exports. Shipments to major European markets, including Germany and Italy, maintained positive volume growth during the January-May period, supported by steady consumer demand.
In Asia, stronger demand from China and stable imports by Japan provided additional support for Vietnamese coffee exports. In the Americas, the United States remained one of Vietnam's leading export markets, while Algeria continued to emerge as a promising destination in Africa.
