Vietnam's fruit and vegetable imports in May and first 5 months of 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to the statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in May of 2026, the total value of fruit and vegetable imports nationwide was estimated at US$241 million, a decrease of 6.2% compared to the previous month but an increase of 23.4% compared to the same period in 2025.

In the first 5 months of 2026, the country’s total value of fruit and vegetable imports was estimated at US$1.29 billion, an increase of more than 31% compared to the same period in 2025.
Main fruit and vegetable import markets for Vietnam in May and the first 5 months of 2026
China still remained the largest supplier of fruits and vegetables to Vietnam in May 2026 with a value of US$87.3 million, a decrease of 13.5% compared to the previous month but an increase of 58.9% compared to the same period in 2025.
For the first 5 months of 2026, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable imports from China reached US$503.2 million, a 48.7% increase compared to the same period last year, accounting for 38.9% of total import value.
The second largest market was the United States, with import value in May 2026 reaching US$47.1 million, a decrease of 26.7% compared to the previous month but an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period last year.
The total value of Vietnam's fruit and vegetable imports from the United States in the first five months of 2026 reached US$325.6 million, a 31.6% increase, accounting for 25.2% of total import value.
The third largest market was New Zealand, with import value reaching US$22.7 million, a 58.1% increase compared to the previous month and a 26.2% increase compared to May 2025.
Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable imports from New Zealand in the first five months of 2026 reached US$47.3 million, an increase of 14.8% compared to the same period in 2025 and accounting for 3.7% of the country's total fruit and vegetable import value.
