Vietnam pepper prices hold steady on June 25 as export growth remains strong

 Thursday, June 25,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's domestic pepper prices were unchanged on Thursday, remaining at elevated levels after a prolonged period of gains, while export performance continued to show positive growth despite a slowdown in May shipments.

Domestic pepper prices in key growing regions were quoted between VND137,000 and VND139,000 per kg, unchanged from the previous trading session.
Dak Lak and Dak Nong (now administratively merged into Lam Dong province) continued to record the highest prices nationwide at VND139,000 per kg.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau (now part of Ho Chi Minh City) and Dong Nai, pepper traded at VND137,500 per kg, while Gia Lai posted the lowest price among major producing areas at VND137,000 per kg.
On international markets, pepper prices showed mixed trends across major producing countries. Indonesian black pepper fell by $34 per tonne, or 0.48%, to $7,158 per tonne.
Indonesia's Muntok white pepper also declined by $45 per tonne, or 0.49%, to $9,256 per tonne.
Brazil's ASTA 570 black pepper was quoted at $5,900 per tonne. Malaysian black pepper remained unchanged at $9,350 per tonne, while Malaysian white pepper held steady at $12,250 per tonne.
Vietnam's export black pepper prices were unchanged at $6,100 per tonne for the 500 g/l grade and $6,200 per tonne for the 550 g/l grade. Export white pepper remained stable at $9,000 per tonne.
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), pepper and spice exports maintained solid growth during the first five months of 2026 despite weaker shipments in May.
Vietnam exported nearly 122,600 tonnes of pepper during January-May, generating export revenue of $789.2 million. The figures represented increases of 21.7% in volume and 13.9% in value compared with the same period of 2025.
In May alone, pepper exports totaled 25,180 tonnes worth $166.2 million, down 18.9% in volume and 13.9% in value from April. Compared with May 2025, export volume declined 4.8%.
Most major exporters reported lower shipment volumes during the month, reflecting a broader slowdown following strong export activity earlier in the year.
The United States remained Vietnam's largest export destination, accounting for more than 23% of total pepper exports, although shipments to the market fell by more than 19% from the previous month. The United Arab Emirates ranked second and continued to maintain stable import demand.
China's imports dropped sharply to 1,512 tonnes in May, down 66.8% from April, making it the primary factor behind the decline in Vietnam's overall pepper exports during the month.
Meanwhile, other major markets including India, Germany, the Netherlands, Türkiye and Thailand continued to import significant volumes. Europe remained the most dynamic region for Vietnamese pepper exports.
The strong growth recorded during the first five months of 2026 was largely driven by robust export volumes in the first quarter and early second quarter, supported by improving demand in key consuming markets while global pepper supplies remained constrained.
