Vietnam's pepper exports in first 5 months of 2026
Thursday, June 25,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, cited by congthuong.vn, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first 5 months of 2026 recorded impressive growth, reaching approximately 126,800 tonnes with the export turnover of US$819.7 million, a strong increase of 27% in volume and 18.8% in value compared to the same period of 2025.
In May of 2026 alone, the country’s total exports of pepper were estimated at 30,000 tonnes with a value of $196.7 million.
The average export price decreased by 6.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching only about $6,463/tonnes, so the growth was mainly driven by production volume and efforts to expand markets, rather than price fluctuations.
Vietnam's key pepper export markets in the first five months of 2026
The United States continued to hold the position of Vietnam's largest consumer market with a 28.5% market share, followed by Germany (5.9%) and Thailand (4.9%). In the context that the country's total import and export turnover in the first five months of 2026 exceeding US$445 billion (a 25% increase compared to the same period) and major markets such as the US and EU increasingly tightening regulations on trade defense, traceability, and food safety in the second half of the year, economic experts recommend that businesses should not be overly complacent or place absolute trust in partners, but should consider risk management as a core strategy.
Exporting entities must proactively verify the financial capacity of their partners through the Vietnamese Trade Offices system abroad, prioritizing the application of secure payment methods such as irrevocable letters of credit (L/C) and limiting the delivery of original documents when conditions are not met, in order to build a solid "shield" to protect business achievements and ensure sustainable development goals.
