Vietnam commodities morning roundup, June 24, 2026: Gold steady, coffee extends losses while pepper advances
Wednesday, June 24,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's commodity markets showed mixed movements on Wednesday morning, with domestic gold prices holding steady, coffee extending recent declines, pepper prices rising across several growing regions, while rice, rubber and livestock markets displayed divergent trends.
Domestic gold prices remained unchanged despite a sharp decline in international bullion markets, reflecting cautious sentiment among investors ahead of fresh global economic signals.
SJC gold bars were quoted at VND144 million per tael for buying and VND147 million per tael for selling, unchanged from the previous session. Gold ring prices also remained stable at around VND143.9-146.9 million per tael.
Major retailers including Doji, Bao Tin Minh Chau, Phu Quy and PNJ maintained their quotations at similar levels, with buy-sell spreads ranging from VND3 million to VND4 million per tael.
Meanwhile, the domestic coffee market continued to soften. Average coffee prices across the Central Highlands fell by VND800 per kg from the previous day to around VND88,600 per kg.
Dak Nong, now part of the newly expanded Lam Dong province, recorded the highest price at VND88,700 per kg after losing VND700 per kg. Lam Dong posted the lowest level at VND88,200 per kg, while Dak Lak and Gia Lai traded at VND88,500 per kg following declines of VND800 per kg.
On overseas markets, robusta coffee futures on ICE Europe showed mixed performance. The July 2026 contract edged down by 0.25% to $3,580 per tonne, while the September contract rose 0.4% to $3,556 per tonne.
Arabica futures on ICE U.S. moved sharply higher, with the July 2026 contract gaining 3.95% to 287.95 U.S. cents per pound and the September contract climbing 3.35% to 275.95 cents per pound.
Vietnam's coffee export performance remained robust despite lower prices. Customs data showed coffee exports during the first half of June reached 58,000 tonnes worth $268.6 million. Export volume increased 5.9% from a year earlier, while export value declined 14% due to lower prices.
From the beginning of the year through June 15, coffee exports totaled 985,700 tonnes worth nearly $4.5 billion, up 11.8% in volume but down 10.7% in value compared with the same period in 2025. The sector had effectively completed nearly 99% of the symbolic one-million-tonne threshold before the end of the first half.
In contrast to coffee, domestic pepper prices extended gains. Prices ranged from VND137,000 to VND139,000 per kg across major producing regions.
Binh Phuoc, now administratively merged into Dong Nai province, recorded the strongest increase, rising VND1,500 per kg to VND137,500 per kg. Gia Lai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau each gained VND500 per kg to VND137,000 and VND137,500 per kg, respectively.
Dak Lak and Dak Nong maintained the highest prices in the country at VND139,000 per kg.
On the international market, Indonesian black pepper export prices slipped slightly by $17 per tonne to $7,158 per tonne, while Muntok white pepper rose $41 per tonne to $9,301 per tonne.
Vietnamese black pepper export prices remained unchanged at $6,100-$6,200 per tonne, while white pepper was steady at $9,000 per tonne.
The rice market in the Mekong Delta displayed a more mixed picture after several sessions of relative stability.
IR50404 paddy prices increased by VND100 per kg to VND5,500-5,600 per kg. However, several higher-quality varieties moved lower. OM5451 fell about VND50 per kg to VND5,700-5,800 per kg, while OM34 dropped VND100 per kg to VND5,500-5,600 per kg.
Premium aromatic varieties including OM18 and Dai Thom 8 remained stable at VND6,200-6,400 per kg.
Rice export quotations also held largely steady. Jasmine rice was offered at $505-$509 per tonne, while 5% broken fragrant rice was quoted at $485-$490 per tonne. Prices for 100% broken rice stood at $344-$348 per tonne.
Durian prices continued to face pressure from weak demand. In the Mekong Delta, Thai Monthong VIP Grade A durian traded at VND70,000-71,000 per kg, while Grade B fruit fetched VND50,000-51,000 per kg.
Ri6 durian remained significantly lower, with Grade A fruit selling at VND36,000-40,000 per kg and Grade B at VND21,000-23,000 per kg.
Premium varieties such as Musang King and Black Thorn maintained higher values, with Grade A prices reaching VND80,000-110,000 per kg depending on variety and location.
The hog market remained broadly stable, though regional disparities persisted. Prices ranged from VND62,000 to VND68,000 per kg nationwide.
Northern provinces continued to command the highest levels, with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh and several others holding at VND68,000 per kg. Southern provinces largely remained at VND62,000-63,000 per kg.
Rubber markets came under pressure from weaker international futures prices. On Japan's TOCOM exchange, RSS3 rubber futures for June delivery fell 1.01% to 427.8 yen per kg, while Shanghai futures dropped between 1.08% and 1.89% across major contracts.
Singapore's SGX TSR20 futures also declined sharply, with the July 2026 contract falling 2.07% to 222.5 U.S. cents per kg.
Despite global weakness, domestic natural rubber procurement prices remained largely unchanged. Companies including Mang Yang, Phu Rieng, Ba Ria and Binh Long maintained stable purchasing rates for latex, supported by company-specific supply management policies.
Overall, Vietnam's commodity markets on June 24 reflected divergent fundamentals across sectors. Coffee prices remained under pressure despite strong export volumes, pepper extended gains on tighter supply expectations, while gold prices stayed flat even as international bullion markets weakened sharply.
