Vietnam's coffee exports totaled US$4.23 billion

 Thursday, June 18,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first five months of 2026, Vietnam's coffee exports reached 927,300 tonnes, valued at US$4.23 billion, an increase of 7.8% in volume but a decrease of 13.5% in value compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Vietnam Customs Department.

The main reason was the average export price decreased by 19.7%, to US$4,557/tonne. This downward trend was most evident in May of 2026 when coffee supply fell to a low level, resulting in exports of only 143,000 tonnes, valued at US$639.4 million, a decrease of 10.8% in volume and a sharp decrease of 30.3% in value compared to May of 2025.
Despite facing challenges regarding price and supply, Vietnam's exports to key markets maintained positive growth momentum thanks to stable consumer demand.
In Europe – the largest consumer region – the key markets such as Germany and Italy continued to maintain strong purchasing power.
In the Americas, the United States continued to affirm its position as one of the main trading partners.
Notably, the Asian region recorded many very positive signs thanks to the impetus from the Chinese market and the stability of Japan, while Algeria is gradually becoming a promising market for Vietnamese coffee in Africa.
