Vietnam coffee prices near VND90,000 per kg on June 16, 2026

AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic coffee prices in Vietnam's Central Highlands remained near recent highs on Tuesday, approaching the VND90,000 per kg mark after strong gains last week, supported by tight domestic supplies and a rebound in global coffee markets.
Market surveys showed coffee prices were unchanged from the previous session, ranging between VND89,000 and VND89,700 per kg across key growing regions. Traders in the former Dak Nong area, now part of Lam Dong Province, were purchasing coffee at the highest level of VND89,700 per kg.
Coffee prices in Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces stood at VND89,500 per kg, while Lam Dong Province recorded VND89,000 per kg.
Market analysts said domestic coffee prices could extend their positive trend in the coming days, supported by strong gains in international markets. In the medium term, a sharp decline in prices is considered unlikely because Robusta supplies remain limited. Future price movements will largely depend on the pace of Brazil's harvest and customs clearance activities at major European ports.
Global coffee prices moved higher as both Robusta and Arabica contracts posted strong recoveries. On the London market, July 2026 Robusta coffee futures rose by USD278 per tonne, or 8.4%, to USD3,594 per tonne. The September 2026 contract gained USD162 per tonne, or 5.0%, to USD3,395 per tonne.

On the New York market, July 2026 Arabica coffee futures increased by 10.7 U.S. cents per pound, or 4.3%, to 257.2 U.S. cents per pound. The September 2026 contract advanced by 11.3 U.S. cents per pound, or 4.7%, to 253.4 U.S. cents per pound.
Weather concerns in Brazil, the world's largest coffee producer and exporter, continued to support prices. Meteorological agencies including Climatempo and Vaisala repeatedly warned of persistent rainfall across major coffee-producing states such as Minas Gerais, Sao Paulo and Espirito Santo.
Heavy rainfall during the harvest season slowed picking activities and raised concerns about drying operations and bean quality for the new crop.
Vietnam's coffee exports continued to be affected by declining domestic supplies. According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, coffee exports in May 2026 totaled 143,000 tonnes worth USD639.4 million, down 24.7% in volume and 22.3% in value from April 2026. Compared with May 2025, exports fell 10.8% in volume and 30.3% in value.
In the first five months of 2026, Vietnam exported 927,300 tonnes of coffee worth USD4.23 billion, up 7.8% in volume but down 13.5% in value from the same period last year, mainly due to lower export prices.
Vietnam's average coffee export price in May reached USD4,471 per tonne, up 3.2% from April but down 21.8% from a year earlier. For Jan-May 2026, the average export price stood at USD4,557 per tonne, a decline of 19.7% year-on-year.
Europe remained the largest destination for Vietnamese coffee exports. Shipments to major markets such as Germany and Italy continued to post positive growth in volume, supported by stable consumer demand.
Asia showed stronger momentum, driven by rising demand from China and steady imports from Japan. In the Americas, the United States remained one of Vietnam's key export markets, while Algeria emerged as a promising destination for Vietnamese coffee in Africa.
