Vietnam-ASEAN trade exchange in first 5 months of 2025

 Tuesday, June 16,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first 5 months of the year, Vietnam's exports to the ASEAN market reached US$18.5 billion, an increase of 16.9%; while imports from this region reached US$27.1 billion, an increase of 21.6%.

ASEAN is one of Vietnam's most important markets.
Vietnam-ASEAN trade in 2025 was nearly US$91 billion, an increase of almost 30 times compared to the more than US$3 billion at the time Vietnam joined ASEAN in 2025. This not only reflected the expansion of trade volume but also showed the increasingly important role of ASEAN in Vietnam's economic development and international integration strategy.
In 2025, Vietnam's exports to the ASEAN market reached US$38.4 billion, an increase of 3.8%; while the country’s imports from ASEAN reached US$52.5 billion, an increase of 12%. Vietnam's trade deficit with ASEAN reached US$14.19 billion last year, an increase of approximately US$4 billion compared to 2024.
Currently, the structure of Vietnam's exports to ASEAN is quite diverse, ranging from industrial products such as electronics, telephones, steel, textiles, and construction materials to agricultural products such as rice, seafood, and coffee, all of which are increasingly present in the regional market.
