Vietnam commodities market on June 11: Gold plunged, coffee and rubber declined, pepper bucked the trend
Thursday, June 11,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Domestic gold prices fell sharply on Thursday morning, extending losses in global markets, while coffee and rubber prices declined under pressure from international exchanges. In contrast, pepper prices edged higher in the domestic market, while rice, durian and live hog markets remained largely stable.
The gold market recorded one of its steepest corrections in recent weeks as global bullion prices continued to weaken. SJC gold bar prices at major retailers fell by VND5-5.5 million per tael from the previous morning, bringing selling prices down to VND138.3-138.8 million per tael.
Gold ring prices also posted similar losses. Major brands, including Bao Tin Minh Chau, Phu Quy and DOJI, quoted selling prices at VND138.3-138.7 million per tael. Market analysts said the decline in domestic gold prices mainly reflected the downturn in global bullion markets.
In the coffee sector, domestic prices in the Central Highlands fell by VND 700-800 per kilogram from the previous day. Farmgate prices ranged between VND84,300 and VND84,800 per kg, with the regional average standing at around VND84,800 per kg.
Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Dak Nong traded at VND84,800 per kg, while Lam Dong recorded the lowest level at VND84,300 per kg.
The domestic decline mirrored international markets. On ICE Europe in London, July 2026 robusta coffee futures fell by USD40 to USD3,293 per tonne. September and November contracts lost USD30 and USD28 per tonne, respectively. On ICE U.S. in New York, July arabica futures slipped 1.5 U.S. cents to 244.4 U.S. cents per pound.
Unlike coffee, domestic pepper prices moved higher in several key producing areas. Prices rose by around VND1,000 per kg from the previous session and ranged between VND138,000 and VND140,000 per kg.
Dak Lak and Dak Nong remained the highest-priced pepper-producing provinces, with prices holding at VND140,000 per kg. In Gia Lai, Dong Nai and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, pepper traded at VND138,000-139,000 per kg.
However, global pepper markets weakened. Indonesian black pepper prices fell to USD7,051 per tonne, while Brazilian black pepper prices declined to USD5,950 per tonne. Indonesia's Muntok white pepper also moved lower. Meanwhile, Vietnamese export pepper prices remained unchanged, with black pepper grades of 500 g/l and 550 g/l quoted at USD6,100-6,200 per tonne, while white pepper held steady at USD9,000 per tonne.
The domestic rice market showed limited fluctuations. Across the Mekong Delta, most major rice varieties maintained stable prices, although several grades of rice materials edged higher.
IR504 rice material rose by VND50 to VND8,700-8,800 per kg, while CL555 increased by about VND100 to VND9,100-9,300 per kg. Other varieties, including OM5451, OM18 and Dai Thom 8, traded within narrow ranges.
Fresh paddy prices in major growing regions remained largely unchanged. OM18 and Dai Thom 8 fresh paddy traded at VND 6,400-6,500 per kg, while OM5451 was purchased at VND 5,700-5,800 per kg.
In export markets, Vietnam's 5% broken fragrant rice was offered at USD 490-495 per tonne, slightly lower than earlier in the week due to stronger competition from rival exporters and persistently high logistics costs.
In the fruit sector, durian prices remained mixed across production regions. In the Mekong Delta, Grade-A Monthong durian traded at VND 72,000-75,000 per kg, while Grade-A Ri6 durian sold for VND42,000-45,000 per kg.
In Dong Nai province, Grade-A Monthong durian fetched higher prices of VND74,000-82,000 per kg. Notably, Grade-A Black Thorn durian was traded at VND110,000 per kg, among the highest levels in the market.
The live hog market remained stable nationwide. In northern Vietnam, prices ranged from VND67,000 to VND68,000 per kg, with Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Phu Tho and Hung Yen maintaining the regional high of VND68,000 per kg.
In the central and Central Highlands regions, live hog prices traded between VND63,000 and VND67,000 per kg. In the south, Dong Nai remained at VND65,000 per kg, while Ca Mau posted the country's lowest price at VND62,000 per kg.
Domestic rubber prices remained steady despite weakness in global markets. Major rubber companies in Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria-Vung Tau kept procurement prices for latex and mixed rubber unchanged from the previous day.
Internationally, rubber prices moved lower. On Japan's TOCOM exchange, the June 2026 RSS3 contract fell 0.59% to 407.6 yen per kg. On Singapore's SGX exchange, the July 2026 TSR20 contract lost 0.84% to 224 U.S. cents per kg. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), rubber contracts posted marginal declines.
Overall, Vietnam's commodity markets on June 11 showed a mixed performance. Gold, coffee and rubber prices came under pressure from weaker international markets, while pepper maintained a positive trend. Rice, durian and live hog prices remained broadly stable as domestic supply and demand stayed relatively balanced.
