Vietnam feed market faced rising costs in May 2026 as logistics disruptions pushed up prices
Tuesday, June 9,2026
AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam's animal feed market recorded higher prices in May 2026 compared with April as rising raw material costs and transportation expenses increased production costs.
The conflict in the Middle East directly affected global logistics, extending shipping times by 15-20 days and increasing freight costs by 30-50%, which in turn disrupted imports of feed ingredients and raised manufacturing expenses for feed producers.
Feed prices increased by around 10-14% compared with the beginning of the year. Market participants said prices could rise by as much as 20-25% during 2026 if tensions in the Middle East remained unresolved.
From the beginning of May, several major feed manufacturers simultaneously announced price increases for livestock and poultry feed products.
GreenFeed Co., Ltd. raised prices by 200-300 dong per kg depending on product type, effective from May 2.
Vinafeed Northern Vietnam Co., Ltd. increased prices by 300 dong per kg for concentrated feed, starter pig feed and fish feed, while other feed products rose by 200 dong per kg from May 2.
De Heus Vietnam also adjusted feed prices from May 4. The company raised prices by 300 dong per kg for concentrated feed and piglet feed and increased prices by 200 dong per kg for other livestock and poultry feed products.
Compared with the period before the Middle East conflict intensified, the price of a 25-kg bag of feed increased by approximately 15,000 dong at warehouses, while transportation charges rose from around 25,000 dong to 35,000 dong per shipment.
The increase reflected the cumulative impact of three to four separate price adjustments announced by feed manufacturers.
Since the beginning of 2026, major feed producers adjusted prices twice, with average increases ranging from 400 to 600 dong per kg.

Imports from the United States reached nearly $291 million, up 28.13% year-on-year. In April alone, imports from the market stood at $51.3 million, down 29.14% from March and 12.31% from the same month last year.
