 Monday, June 1,2026

AsemconnectVietnam - According to statistics from the Vietnam Customs Department, in April of 2026, the country's fruit and vegetable export turnover reached US$534 million, an increase of 0.4% compared to March of 2026 and a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Overall, in the first four months of 2026, the export turnover of fruits and vegetables reached US$2.0 billion, an increase of 22.1% compared to the same period of 2025.
However, the low growth rate in April indicated that fruit and vegetable exports are showing signs of slowing down and facing increasing competition from countries in the region, especially as fruit supplies from Thailand, the Philippines, and many Southeast Asian countries enter their peak harvest season. In addition, quarantine, quality, and traceability requirements in many importing markets continue to be tightened, creating further pressure on export businesses.
In April of 2026, China continued to be Vietnam's largest market for fruits and vegetables, with export value reaching US$243.1 million, an increase of 1.0% compared to the previous month but a decrease of 5.4% compared to the same period in 2025. For the first four months of 2026, exports to this market reached US$1.0 billion, an increase of 31.1% compared to the same period last year and accounting for 49.6% of the country's total fruit and vegetable exports. Key export items include durian, dragon fruit, bananas, jackfruit, mangoes, watermelons, longan, lychee, lemons, fresh coconuts, and sweet potatoes.
The United States was the second largest market, with export value reaching US$48.7 million in April of 2026, a decrease of 3.6% compared to March of 2026 but an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period of 2025. The total figure in the first four months of this year reached US$178.6 million, an increase of 15.8% and accounting for 8.7% of total export turnover.
South Korea ranked third with a turnover of US$33.9 million, similar to the previous month and an increase of 16.1% compared to April of 2025; the figure of the first four months reached US$110.7 million, an increase of 9.1%, accounting for 5.4% of the country's total fruit and vegetable exports.
Fruit and vegetable exports to the EU in April of 2026 reached US$40.7 million, a decrease of 10.3% compared to the previous month but an increase of 6.4% compared to the same period of 2025; the figures of the first four months reached US$160.8 million, an increase of 22.5% and accounting for 7.8% of the country's total fruit and vegetable exports.
Of these, the Netherlands was the largest import market in the EU with a turnover of US$78.7 million, an increase of 4.7% compared to the same period last year and accounting for 49.0% of total exports to the EU. This was followed by Germany with US$48.9 million, an increase of 80.8%, accounting for 30.4%, and France with 15.9%. Key export items included passion fruit, mango, dragon fruit, durian, pineapple, coconut, avocado, longan, lychee, and mangosteen. In addition, processed products such as processed fruits and nuts also recorded positive growth.
