Viettel Post (VTP): Q1/2026 profit decreases 43.7% y-o-y

AsemconnectVietnam - Viettel Post Joint Stock Company (Viettel Post, ticker VTP - HOSE) has just announced its consolidated financial report for the first quarter of 2026, showing a 43.7% decrease in after-tax profit compared to the same period last year, mainly due to a decrease in scratch card revenue and increased expenses.
Specifically, in the first quarter of 2026, Viettel Post recorded sales revenue and service provision of VND4,758 billion, a decrease of 5.6% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to a decrease in scratch card revenue. Gross profit from sales reached VND256.3 billion, a decrease of more than 3% compared to the same period.
In addition, Viettel Post's financial revenue in the period nearly doubled, reaching VND34.97 billion. However, the company's expenses increased during the period, with financial expenses rising by 78% to over VND32 billion, mainly due to borrowing costs (VND31.9 billion); selling expenses increased 1.5 times to VND41.7 billion; and selling expenses increased by 12% to VND166.5 billion.
As a result, the company recorded pre-tax profit in Q1/2026 of VND51.7 billion, a decrease of 41.6% compared to the same period last year; after- tax profit reached nearly VND39 billion, a decrease of 43.7%.
In 2026, Viettel Post aims for revenue of VND19,519 billion, a decrease of 5.6% compared to 2025, and pre-tax profit of VND515 billion. With the results achieved in the first three months of the year, Viettel Post has completed 24.3% of its annual revenue plan and 10% of its annual pre-tax profit plan.
As of March 31, 2026, Viettel Post's total assets decreased by 7.7% compared to the beginning of the year, to VND6,938.3 billion. Shareholder equity reached over VND1,754 billion, of which owner's contributed capital was over VND1,217 billion. Undistributed after-tax profit reached VND355.1 billion, a slight decrease of 3.4% compared to the beginning of the year.
Viettel Post currently has total outstanding debt of VND5,183 billion, primarily consisting of short-term debt (VND4,695 billion, accounting for 90.5% of total liabilities). Short-term loans and financial leases amounted to VND1,221 billion, while other short-term payables totaled VND1,382 billion.
