AsemconnectVietnam - After several sessions of minor fluctuations, Vietnam’s domestic pepper market remained largely stable on the morning of May 8, 2026. Pepper prices in key growing regions stayed firm at high levels, ranging between VND140,000 and VND144,000 per kilogram.

Dak Lak and Dak Nong Province recorded the highest purchase prices nationwide at VND144,000/kg. Prices in Ho Chi Minh City were quoted at around VND142,500/kg, while Dong Nai maintained VND142,000/kg. Gia Lai posted the lowest level among major producing areas at approximately VND 140,000/kg.
The international market also showed a relatively stable trend. According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), Indonesian black pepper prices edged up by USD8 per tonne to USD6,955 per tonne.
Meanwhile, other major producing countries maintained stable price levels. Brazil’s ASTA 570 black pepper remained unchanged at USD 6,100 per tonne, while Malaysian black pepper held steady at around USD9,300 per tonne.
Vietnam’s export pepper prices also remained firm at high levels, with black pepper grades 500 g/l and 550 g/l staying stable within the range of USD6,100–6,200 per tonne.
In the white pepper segment, export prices from Vietnam and Malaysia were unchanged at USD 9,000 per tonne and USD12,200 per tonne, respectively. In contrast, Indonesia’s Muntok white pepper increased slightly to USD9,164 per tonne.
According to data from Comexstat, Brazil exported 25,606 tonnes of pepper in the first quarter of 2026, generating export revenue of USD160 million. The figures represented increases of 10.9% in volume and 10% in value compared with the same period last year. Brazilian exporters stated that since the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East, they had actively sought alternative markets outside the affected region, particularly in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
During the first two months of 2026, the United States imported 13,344 tonnes of pepper, down 10.1% year-on-year, mainly due to a sharp decline in supplies from countries other than Vietnam. In contrast, Vietnam continued to strengthen its position as the leading supplier, with both export volume and market share increasing significantly.
In the first quarter, Vietnam’s export prices for black pepper were quoted at USD6,300–6,400 per tonne for grades 500 g/l and 550 g/l, down USD200–300 per tonne from the end of last year. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s prices increased by USD267 per tonne to USD7,005 per tonne, Malaysia’s prices rose by USD300 per tonne to USD9,300 per tonne, while Brazil’s prices fluctuated around USD6,100 per tonne.
